We had the good fortune of connecting with Alex Schupp and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I founded a small web design and digital marketing firm in Denver called Crowd Digital Marketing.

In the past, I’d managed social media startups, boutique agencies and corporate website building factories. After a decade or so in the industry, it was easy to get jaded and burnt out. Between companies selling snake oil, bad client relationships, and plain bad work, the profit-driven corporate marketing world just wasn’t for me.

In 2017 I left my job managing a website production company to take some time to regroup. After a while *not* working, it was hard to have any desire to go back to an industry that burns through its employees and clients so disposably. So, I started my own company.

I reached out to former clients and partners and told them of my desire to focus on digital storytelling for growing businesses and brands. I was lucky enough to have some colleagues who trusted me enough to jump ship right away, and off we went.

For my business, transparency and client relationships are paramount. I have been lucky enough to build up a book of business of people and organizations that I care deeply about, whose stories we are able to tell in impactful ways.

My client base and client relationships in no way resemble my life in the corporate marketing world, and for me that is a really good thing.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
When a friend is visiting Denver, we’re starting at the RiNo Art District.

First stop is coffee and an easy breakfast at Port Side, then a quick walk down Larimer Street to check out the murals. Maybe stop by Carbon Knife Co to do a bit of shopping.

For lunch, it’s Denver Central Market. Get an amazing craft cocktail from Curio, and grab a quick bite. For me, Lunchboxx wins every time.

Now, hop on an electric scooter and head to the Denver Art Museum. Honestly there is too much to see in one day. Stick to the Native American Art (main) floor for the afternoon. It’s cool.

For dinner, it’s Jovanina’s Broken Italian. Sit at the bar for a lowkey feel, or head downstairs for a dark, romantic evening. Oysters (raw, not baked) and bolognese is a must. Other than that, I trust your decisions.

Then a quick walk to Denver Milk Market for dessert and a nightcap.

If the dispensaries are still open, grab a preroll on the walk home.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to dedicate my Shoutout to the 501c3 nonprofit Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado. (www.voc.org)

If you’ve hiked, biked or backpacked in Colorado, chances are you’ve directly benefitted by their work.

I’m not a Colorado native; like many people here, I moved to Colorado for the incredible recreational opportunities offered just a short drive away from downtown Denver.

It’s organizations like VOC that keep Colorado’s natural resources usable year-round for natives, locals and tourists alike.

In addition to volunteering with VOC on several trail restoration projects, my company Crowd Digital Marketing worked with VOC to build their website, and we now help to keep it up to date.

Working with Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado has been an incredible way to give back to CO, a state that has given me so much.
