We had the good fortune of connecting with Elecia Bellmire and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Elecia, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
I have several. lol 1. “Discipline=Freedom”: I love this quote by Jocko Willink and try to live by it everyday. The minute I start to think how much I hate paperwork and don’t want to do it – I remember this. Or, if I don’t want to go work out – I remember this. Because no matter what if I stay disciplined – my time off is freedom. And, Jocko Willink is a badass and I love his book Extreme Ownership. It has helped me become a much better leader.
2. “Dreams don’t work unless you do”. This sits on my desk so I can never get away from why I work as hard as I do. It makes me remember my end goal, my dreams and my family and puts me back in my game.
3. “Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift…that’s why they call it present” AA Milne. There are a million different authors of this online regardless of who said it – I love it. It reminds me to always have a grateful heart and to be thankful for all my blessings, my loved ones, my work family and my amazing community. This is actually in my living room – and it always always makes me smile.

What should our readers know about your business?
As a little girl, I had barbies but they typically sat in a box while I sewed curtains, sheets & blankets, created waterbeds from shoeboxes with water balloons, and wallpapered walls of the Barbie mansion. From a young age – you could say I loved real estate. Little did I know the jobs I had as an adult were leading me back to this love. What I still find amazing is that I got to move home to my very rural community and make more money than I ever had in any city we lived in. I am so thankful everyday for this. The biggest lessons I learned were from my parents requiring us to purchase our own school clothes, vehicles, gas money and college education. I raised steers in 4’H to sell at County Fair, ran a dump truck for work, went to school, played sports and still had chores at home and on the ranch. We were always busy and learned how to manage money. This more than anything gave me confidence by the time I was 18 and on my own to know that I could take care of myself. I cannot thank them enough for this gift.
What I learned in the Corporate World took me far from my roots and made me realize who I didn’t want to be. I went to every sales conference and listened to all the “gurus” on how to sell etc. and watched people within the organization fail, leave – quantity over quality. This was such a great Teacher for me – probably one of the best!
Now owning my own Business, and I get to call the shots. No quantity over quality here – not in employees and certainly not in clients. I am passionate about establishing solid relationships and truly caring about the people we interact with. I have the opportunity to lead my Agents in doing the same. In short, I went back to my roots and what my community taught me – we take care of people, not transactions. My office gets to give back to the community that raised me and I am beyond thankful.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If it was Summer – we would go to the Absolute Bakery in Mancos for breakfast, hit McPhee Lake for a day of boating, fishing, surfing. The next day we would take a day ride in the RZR’s on the Aspen Loop Trail and enjoy the mountain air, views and good friends and family. when we came off the mountain we would stop at Chavolos and enjoy some great mexican food and then hit the El Rio for a night cap. Another day we would hit the Conquistador Golf Course and enjoy 18 holes then hit the Loungin Lizard for dinner. We would then take a trip into Durango and visit all the downtown shops and finish at Trimble Hot Springs. Mesa Verde Tour would have to end up in the mix as well as a hike or bike ride through Boggy Draw. After coming down from Biking we’d hit the Dolores Brewery for a Food Truck meal and great beer and live music outside on the patio. We’d definitely have to make it to Telluride – just to say we did it. And, just so they knew it wasn’t all fun and games – they would help me change the irrigation water on the ranch at least once. lol In the winter – replace everything with skiing, snowshoeing, cross country skiing or snowmobiling.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are so many people to thank for my success. First – my husband Shad. He makes me want to be the best version of myself. My respect and love for him is limitless. He never tells me I can’t do something when I am going to leap into the next adventure. He supports me, holds me accountable and never doubts my abilities. He is my soulmate and am forever grateful to God for our 31 years together. Second – my family and friends. My Dad for giving me my first job as a dump truck driver and paying me by the load. This taught me incentive pay and realized the more I worked – the more money I could make. My Mom for teaching me to be independent, relying on myself to find my own way, drive and determination. My brother Randy for teaching me how to ride a horse, a bike, a jetski, snowmobile, motorcycle or anything else with an engine and taking care of me as a kid. And now for being the best travel buddy as adults. My Basketball Coach in High School – Terry Newlin. He took us all the way to state and placed 5th. He taught me to believe in myself when I didn’t. How to be a leader and how to win. His guidance through difficult teenage years is beyond words and is the reason that I coach girls basketball today.
