Meet Trinh Nguyen | Tattoo Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Trinh Nguyen and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Trinh, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
Life is a journey, not a destination – Ralph Waldo Emerson. This quote has become a very consistent mantra in my life. It reminds me to savor each fleeting moment of satisfaction for as long as possible, before setting my intentions upon my next endeavor.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am somewhat of a complex, multidimensional body artist. I grew up naturally gravitating towards art and creative expression. I devoted my college years to painting and obtained a degree in Studio Art. For many years, I also delightfully pursued live painting performances, exhibitions, and adventures. The most abundant theme and imagery in my personal body of work is figurative and portraiture. My journey ultimately came full circle when I finally manifested my dream, of evolving from putting figurative art into canvases, to putting art directly into the figures (canvases), themselves. Tattooing has been the most rewarding and challenging medium to master and I am grateful for every person that I’ve met on this sublime journey. My specialities and favorite styles to explore are: realism, painted watercolor, and sacred geometry/ornamental.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Since this state has so much to share, I generally plan for those visits to be a balance of nature and city experiences. I would start with a combination of exploring the Garden of the Gods, and spending some time in Manitou Springs soaking up the hot springs, or planning some hiking trips or camping trips depending on the time of the year. My favorite form of entertainment is live music so I would showcase my favorite establishments like Red Rocks Amphitheater, The Fillmore, Black Box, and 1Up. Some of my favorite restaurants are The Post, The Lazy Dog, and Cheba Hut.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to dedicate my shout out to Sacred Soul Tattoo, where I work. I am grateful to call this place my tattoo home and these people family. I have learned and grown so much as an artist and person since I started working there in 2017.
