We had the good fortune of connecting with Chancers Hooley and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I have been in bands and playing music since my early teens. For this band I wanted to do something different. I came across Celtic music thanks to my wife. I have Irish heritage, but when we were first dating she took me to a couple pubs and the vibe and crowd involvement was nothing like I had experienced in my other bands. One thing led to another and then it gave some focus on what I wanted the band to be. I was then super lucky to find a group of people that we really enjoy each others’ company and talents and decided to take it from jamming for fun to playing out. This group is fundamentally based in Celtic Rock but brings in elements of country and classic rock which makes for really interesting and fun performances.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The Brown Palace is an incredible and historic hotel. They have jazz in the lobby in the afternoons and piano in the tavern later in the evening. Of course, Red Rocks is in iconic place to see a show. Casa Bonita is going to re-open soon and has its own unique charm and then Scruffy Murphy’s is an authentic pub downtown. Right next to Downtown Denver is the Highlands neighborhood with several great restaurants. Downtown Boulder is truly unique especially the Pearl Street Mall on a nice afternoon. Olde Town Arvada has great restaurants and shops. Hiking at Mt Falcon is really nice and not too far from Denver. City Park and the Denver Zoo are also fantastic.
