Meet Alyce Garth | Thyroid and autoimmune – health and nutrition coach

We had the good fortune of connecting with Alyce Garth and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alyce, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
From a young age I was determined to squeeze every minute out of my day. As soon as I could get a job I did and i went on to hold down 5 casual jobs (at once) while completing my university degree.
This transferred into my corporate work life where out of university I climbed the corporate ladder fast.
It eventually caught up with me and I ended up being diagnosed with Hashimoto’s thyroiditis. This slowed me down in my tracks. I gained weight, had brain fog, was so low on energy & was sleeping 14 hours a night.
This was the first time I really understood that being healthy and looking after your body and well being wasn’t just about eating the right foods and exercising regularly.
It was needing to find your perfect balance in the life you want to live. I am now so much more in tune with my body, know my limits and schedule non negotiable down time.
This means I can work part time in the corporate world, part time as a health and nutrition coach and still be able to show up and be a great mum and role model for my daughter.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am a Health and Nutrition Coach, supporting exhausted high achieving women living with thyroid and autoimmune conditions.
I have extensive qualifications as a certified Health and Life Coach, a Bachelor of Health Sciences and I have also represented Australia at the Triathlon World Championships.
I have created my career on my terms where i balance my coaching business, a part-time executive-level position in a large corporate organisation and am also a mum.
Following my own challenging health journey I am passionate about sharing my knowledge and strategies with other women so they don’t have to go through the same struggles as I did. My signature approach focuses on nutrition, habits and behaviour change and I empower my clients to take control over their health and their life.
Running your own business is challenging but also so rewarding. My biggest lessons learnt are to enjoy the journey and stop wishing you were further ahead then you are. You can only do so much with your time and energy you have and when you reflect on what you have achieved it really is incredible.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
To the mountains! I absolutely love snowboarding, snow shoeing and exploring the amazing mountains that Colorado has to offer. My pick of mountains are Snow mass, Breckenridge, Keystone and Steamboat. There is nothing more invigorating than being out in the elements, taking in the fresh air and breathtaking views. When your exploring Colorado you feel so damn lucky to be alive.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Holly MacCue who was able to see my passion and desire to support women with their health. Holly was the reason obtained my Health and Life coaching qualifications. She then supported me to define my niche to specifically work with women with thyroid and autoimmune conditions. To be bold and share my story, struggles and shine the light for other women.
