We had the good fortune of connecting with Lyndsey Kastein and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lyndsey, what inspires you?
I’ve always had an internal drive to help others, whether it be through my first service industry job as a teenager or via my design and marketing work now. My ability to empathize with other people is one of my greatest strengths, and I use it to understand the wants and needs of my clients on a daily basis, sometimes even things they have trouble articulating verbally. I was drawn to art at a very young age and when I discovered a path to make a career out of being creative, I dove in and haven’t looked back! As for day-to-day inspiration, it’s all around me. I take notes on work that I come across that I enjoy and can sprout ideas from everything from fine art (My bachelor’s degree is in art) to music to conversations with friends over a cold beer. I try not to take life too seriously, and my sense of humor and whimsy influence much of the work I do (whenever possible, anyway). Regardless of what I’m doing, I love making others smile and laugh as much as I can. The world needs more of that!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I touched on this in the last question, but I think my sense of humor and appreciation for all things whimsical is a big influence in my work. I also have a fairly extensive background in science (chemistry, specifically), so experimentation and discovery have also always been major driving factors. It’s definitely been challenging starting my own business, but my years working at other marketing jobs have given me the tools I need to do it. I’ve worked both in-house and at an agency, so I think my skill set is well-rounded, and I have a wide range of experience with all sorts of clientele. My passion lies in helping other brands discover their most authentic selves, which is arguably always a work in progress, both for them and myself. I’ve learned to adapt and pivot my business when needed and accept that nothing is ever really set in stone. Adaptability is another strength of mine and is a core tenet of myself and my brand.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’ve always been a fan of local breweries, so I would check a few out and see where the day leads. I love the spontaneity of wandering a downtown area and seeing where my curiosity leads me. There are so many great and fun places just waiting to be discovered, and locking yourself into a strict itinerary can rob you of the most delightful adventures.
