We had the good fortune of connecting with Lacey Dippold and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lacey, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
My business helps the community because I don’t see this as just a business. I see this as a way to love and serve people I never would have met in daily life without my business. It’s a way that I get to stand side by side with them and sometimes fight for them. I’ve been able to help many of my clients with infertility, hardships, divorces, child loss and many heartbreaking issues. I also volunteer my time with Photographers Without Borders and serve internationally as well.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I specialize in maternity and newborn photography and I am drawn to this genre more than any other. I’ve struggled with infertility and infant loss so it’s extra precious to me to document my clients journey into parenthood.

It was not easy. Newborn photography is incredibly meticulous and difficult. It takes an incredibly amount of skill and talent to showcase a newborns in their best way. Posing and lighting is challenging. I spent thousands of dollars attending workshops, conferences and having mentors to improve my work. I used to HATE newborn photography but felt it was cheapening my clients experience with me if my newborn work was subpar compared to my maternity and family work. I also took so many model sessions to improve and constantly tried new posing techniques until I found the ones that worked the best. I broke a lot of rules that traditional newborn photographers use to get to exactly the look I wanted.

I learned that without proper growth and education, your style and experience will struggle. Learning from someone better than you and farther along in their journey will catapult you forward faster and better than if you struggle through it alone.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I live in such a unique area of the country. I actually homestead and provide 90% of the food we consume as a family ourselves. Our first stop would be to visit our little farm and see our baby goats and baby alpaca because that’s such a treat! I love to cook and would use farm fresh produce, eggs, goat milk and meat raised lovingly right on our homestead to create gourmet meals. But we would also go horseback riding in the Wyoming mountains, fishing in the lakes and stop by one of the best country restaurants, The Bunkhouse.

We’d go hiking in Rocky Mountain National Park, climb 14ers in Breckenridge, Colorado and stop and enjoy the hot tubs and pool at our condo in Breck. Our favorite places in Breckenridge would be the Flipside and Motherloaded to get some amazing meals and cocktails.

We’ll take a trip over to Veedauwu and go foraging for medicinal plants and edible berries. But not before enjoying the bouldering opportunities and Jeep rock crawling trails.

One of my absolute favorite places to show people who visit is Lake Marie in Centennial, Wyoming. It’s absolutely stunning and the fishing is pretty awesome! It’s a gorgeous photography location and one of my favorites.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My husband and my four daughters. They’re my support, my inspiration and my reason to fight.
