We had the good fortune of connecting with Austin Toker and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Austin, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I pursued an artistic career because music has always been my passion and calling. My journey began in 2014 as Nitsua, and over the years, I poured my heart and soul into honing my craft.
By the end of 2019, I made the decision to rebrand myself as Austin Toker, signifying more than just a name change. It marked the start of a new chapter in my artistic journey. This change allowed me to explore new horizons, evolve as an artist, and continue to connect with my audience through my music.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art is a reflection of my journey, and what sets me apart is the unique blend of influences that have shaped my music. I’m proud of the raw, unapologetic energy I bring to my hip-hop, drawing inspiration from legends like Tupac, Tech N9ne, Immortal Technique, and Snow The Product to name a few. Their influence laid the foundation for my artistry.
Getting to where I am today professionally wasn’t easy. I’ve faced challenges, like many artists do. But I’ve learned that perseverance is key. I overcame these obstacles by staying true to my roots while constantly pushing artistic boundaries. It’s essential to keep evolving and refining one’s craft.
The lessons I’ve learned along the way include the importance of authenticity and innovation in hip-hop. It’s crucial to be true to yourself and to the art form while also exploring new horizons.
What I want the world to know about me and my brand is that I’m here to celebrate the boundless possibilities of hip-hop. My music is a fusion of lyrical brilliance and storytelling, and it embodies the essence of a new hip-hop era. I want my audience to know that I’m dedicated to this art form and that I’ll continue to deliver electrifying performances and music that resonates with them. Follow me on any social media platform to be part of this exciting journey.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
When hosting visitors from outside of Colorado, I would recommend an experience that captures the essence of the state.
For my personal favorite food spot, a visit to Golden Flame Hot Wings is a must, they offer the best wings in my opinion and I always go with the ‘Colorado Fancy’ sauce.
Heading to the mountains offers breathtaking views of Colorado’s natural beauty. Plus, exploring the state’s cannabis culture adds an interesting twist to the trip.
And we can’t forget to check out the lively local hip-hop music scene, which really shows off the city’s music talent. And if you’re into sports, catching Denver Nuggets, Avalanche and Denver Broncos games is a thrilling experience that adds to Colorado’s exciting offerings.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My artistic journey has been shaped and fueled by the incredible support, mentorship, and encouragement of numerous individuals and sources. Firstly, I’d like to dedicate this shoutout to my core fan base that has been with me through the years, providing unwavering support and inspiration.
Additionally, I owe a debt of gratitude to my family and friends who have always believed in me and encouraged my creative pursuits. Their love and belief in my talent have been a driving force.
I’d also like to acknowledge the mentors and fellow artists who have shared their wisdom and artistic insights over the years here in Colorado, helping me grow and evolve as an artist. Their guidance has been invaluable.
Lastly, I want to recognize the power of music itself as a source of inspiration. Countless musicians, both past and present, have influenced and motivated me on this journey. Their artistry continues to shape my own.
