Meet Nix Grimm | Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Nix Grimm and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nix, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I think about risk as a way to grow and to challenge myself. It definitely pushes me to think or do something in a different way and to branch out. It’s pushed me to not be scared and just go for. Be it a project or event.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
So my art lives in the realm of spooky and horror, sometimes just just eerie and elegant.
I got where I am today just by never giving up and never stopping. I gained experience and knowledge on what I like vs what I don’t and how to navigate through projects. The most important thing I’ve learned is to not be afraid to stick to your boundaries and that it is okay to say no. Whether that’s for a certain pose or a project in general or just wardrobe. I feel when I first started out I felt like I couldn’t say no because I needed the experience. Looking back now, that was unsafe and it hurt my creativity.
I would love the world to know about my story is that even if you have a disability that people can’t see, you can still thrive and be creative. I have a form of cerebral palsy that affects my whole right of my body. I use that to my advantage for the horror themes because that side of my body can pop or contort in ways that is very creepy but looks badass.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’d definitely take them to a concert at Red Rocks because that’s an experience to have in life. I’d also take them to Hell or High Water Tiki Bar if they wanted some fun and smooth drinks. I’ve only been once but the staff were fantastic and sweet. Their menu is a decent size with badass themes and they also do mocktails. For food, I would have them check out Tokyo Teriyaki or Pho TJ. Probably my two favorite spots for food.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Shout out to my friends Shanna and Wendy. Shanna for always being there and supporting whatever endeavor I’m currently doing. Wendy for always being down to create some dark art with me.
