We had the good fortune of connecting with The Equity Project and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi The Equity Project, what do you attribute your success to?

Our success has ultimately come through the deep relationships we have forged with our partners, some of which we have been working with for 5+ years! The Equity Project (TEP) prides itself upon being in continuous relationship with our clients. We engage each organization using a strengths-based approach that honors where a team is today, while keeping an eye on how they can grow and develop. Each of our consultants brings a unique and diverse perspective, ensuring that our clients are matched well – and receive services that are nuanced and customized.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
The Equity Project provides equity, diversity, and inclusivity (EDI) centered consulting to organizations across the United States. We partner with clients in a variety of ways, from developing educational strategies and conducting organizational assessments, to creating robust blueprints to address opportunity areas within an organization. At TEP, we believe that equity work is transformational and not transactional. Our approach is centered around “creating spaces filled with grace,” an understanding that everyone is coming to the table with a unique set of experiences, identities and understanding. We allow employees and leaders to show up as they are, without experiencing shame or judgement. Our objective is to strengthen the culture of organizations, not disrupt or cause harm.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Our clients! In 2023 we saw a variety of organizations move from a place of learning and awareness into action and implementation. It’s been inspiring to see how many organizations have taken what they have learned and begun to operationalize tenants of EDI across their business practices. We are especially proud of the Town of Breckenridge, which recently adopted their Equity Blueprint in January. We conducted an organizational assessment which served as the foundation for this robust plan to address internal workplace culture and strengthen community relationships and we are so proud that they have taken concrete steps to strengthen their organization.
