We had the good fortune of connecting with Amanda Davis and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Amanda, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Aniedra and I have spent decades in the restaurant industry and have both had dreams of owning our own restaurants. We began working together in 2020 when Aniedra came on board as our executive chef. I had been at Table 6 since 2012 working my way up to general manager. I had spent years under the tutelage of Aaron Forman who at that time was the owner of Table 6 and a superstar in the Denver food and wine scene. Our dear friend Aaron passed away in 2023 and while grieving his loss, we were presented with the humbling opportunity to carry on his legacy.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Though Aniedra and I officially took over the restaurant this last year, we are so proud of the longevity Table 6 has enjoyed in this competitive food scene. Denver has exploded into a vibrant culinary city and we are so grateful to have lasted 20 years doing what we do. I think what sets us apart in this blossoming food scene in Denver is our experience and dedication to our crafts. Aaron Forman was dedicated to hospitality and I was lucky enough to learn from him. Aniedra’s extensive experience running restaurants both large and small has been an incredible asset and instrumental to the future of Table 6. I was fairly inexperienced in fine dining when I began working at the restaurant but over the last 12 years have learned to figure things out as I go. I suffer from imposter syndrome on a daily basis but have realized that a certain amount uncertainty is the only certainty in this business.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
There are so many new and exciting restaurants in town that we are excited about but if we were showing a friend around Denver, we tend to stick with our tried and true favorites.
For a casual early dinner we would go to Cart-Driver in RiNo for oysters, pizza, and a Negroni. Depending on the season, we’d try to catch a Nuggets game at Ball arena or a show at Red Rocks. Reunion Bread in The Source is a great spot for coffee and a pastry in the morning. For a nice dinner I love Olivia or Potager. Sometimes it’s difficult to find a good spot on Sunday but my go-to is Point Easy in Whittier for a great meal. We also love the Denver Art Museum, walking around City Park, and exploring the mountains nearby!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Aaron Forman for entrusting us to take of his baby and the Forman family for generously giving us the opportunity to carry on Aaron’s legacy.
