We had the good fortune of connecting with Stephen Hamm and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a creative person. I always have been. So, I found my love of food as an endless canvas to show my creativity. But, after picking up my first camera, I found my passion. Being in nature behind the lens helped me with the chaos of my job. It brought me peace and happiness. And I was able to capture the true beauty of the landscapes with some of the best conditions. Reaching the point I am at was not easy. I endured criticism from fellow photographers. Some of which I though were friends. I spent countless hours in the field honing my craft. And even more hours in front of the computer, defining my style. I sacrificed time with my family. Being away from home was hard. My son, missing me all the time. After all this, I wanted to educate people and help them reach their photography goals. So, I started teaching workshops in the field and on Zoom. I also starting selling print through etsy.
If I could do anything differently, I would have managed my time better. I would have pick one thing to do and saw it through and not bounced around from project to project. Focusing on one thing at a time would have been much more effective in the progression of my business.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I do not go into the city much, so the question hits differently. I spend a lot of my time camping. So that is what I would suggest. My best friend loves to camp, so I know they wouldn’t have any objections.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I dedicate my shoutout to my amazing wife, Rebecca. She has put up with my long days and nights, been supportive of everything, and helped me in more ways than I can name. Without her love through all of my rough times, I would have failed. She is my number one fan. Thank you sweetheart for all that you do for us.
