Meet Cory Rusch | Custom Woodworker

We had the good fortune of connecting with Cory Rusch and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Cory, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I have always been a risk taker. Starting a young adult life as an addict was the beginning to a life of daring greatly. Not the addiction itself, but the decision to overcome the challenge was the turning point for taking risks. And that sobriety taught me more things than I could’ve ever expected. I learned that sometimes life feels uncomfortable, and getting uncomfortable is often a genuinely needed process to find long term comfort.
Risk taking has since played a role in my business as I’ve had to transition into expensive machinery, a large warehouse, and building bigger and greater things. Without the willingness to jump into deep waters, I don’t think I would be able to offer the solutions for customers that I do. Risk is a good thing for all of us.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Woodworking is definitely an art form in it’s own class. There’s many skills that are needed to see a project all of the way through. Like mathematics, geometry, cutting and forming, joinery, finishing, and safe delivery. But this is what excites me, because there’s always something new to learn, and I film some of my greatest projects and share them with the world.
This has not been an easy process to learn, and filming for YouTube is yet another art form I had to learn. I originally thought the hardest challenge would be acquiring the tools to do the job. However, through the years I’ve seen that tools aren’t the limiting factor. Instead, my perseverance was going to determine what I was capable of, not my machines. So it’s true, if there’s a will, there’s a way.
And that is exactly what I want the world to know. If you want something, anything, we can make it. Let us help you find your joy through custom art, furniture, accents, and cabinetry. Your home is your sanctuary, it’s our commitment to keep it that way.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take someone to Uncle Ramen, probably the best ramen I’ve ever had. A few other restaurants among others are Edgewater Marketplace (for variety), Little India, and Bonefish Grill.
Redrocks is one of our most iconic places to go and a great way to hike and catch up. We have several amazing hotsprings like Glenwood hotsprings and Strawberry hotsprings. I also recommend Glen Eyrie Castle and Rocky Mountain National Park
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I appreciate the efforts from everyone around me. My family, my companion, and even my dog has/have all helped me through the good times and bad. Advocates For Recovery has also been a huge reason I am sober and successful to this day. Thank you all.
