We had the good fortune of connecting with Lucy Yun and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lucy, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Starting my own business was a natural progression in my creative journey. It stemmed from a deep-rooted desire to channel my artistic vision and marketing expertise into a platform where I could offer a diverse range of creative services tailored to meet the needs of my clients. The freedom to shape my own creative direction and foster collaborative partnerships was a pivotal motivator in founding Lucky Lucy Creative Inc.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets me apart from others? What am I most proud of or excited about? How did I get to where you are today professionally?

What sets me apart in my professional journey is my dedication to creative excellence, innovative storytelling, and client-centric solutions. I take pride in my ability to infuse fresh perspectives, artistic flair, and strategic vision into every project, ensuring a unique and impactful outcome that resonates with audiences. The recent work I undertook for the Granville Island Fall/Winter 2023 Campaign stands as a testament to my passion for reinventing traditional narratives and crafting engaging visual experiences that captivate and inspire.

How did I get to where you are today professionally? Was it easy? If not, how did I overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way?

My professional journey has been marked by perseverance, creative exploration, and a commitment to continuous growth. While the path to success has been rife with challenges and obstacles, I have navigated these hurdles with resilience, adaptability, and a steadfast belief in my creative vision. Overcoming challenges has required a blend of strategic problem-solving, collaboration, and a willingness to embrace failure as a stepping stone to growth.

Throughout my career, I have learned the importance of embracing change, fostering a spirit of innovation, and remaining agile in the face of adversity. Each setback has served as a learning opportunity, propelling me towards greater heights of creativity and professional fulfillment.

What do I want the world to know about me or my brand and story?

At the core of my brand and story lies a deep commitment to artistic integrity, collaborative partnership, and visionary creativity. Through Lucky Lucy Creative Inc., I aim to redefine traditional boundaries, spark meaningful connections, and shape immersive experiences that transcend conventional expectations. My brand is a testament to the power of creativity, community, and strategic innovation, fostering a culture of collaboration, diversity, and artistic excellence that resonates with audiences on a profound level. Through my work, I aspire to inspire, provoke thought, and ignite transformative change in the creative landscape, leaving a lasting legacy of innovation, impact, and boundless creativity.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
For a week-long visit to Vancouver, start with exploring hip and historic Gastown and check out cute boutique shops and cafes. Then off to Granville Island, for the artisanal craft shops and picturesque Public Market. Seth Rogen’s favorite donut shop, Lee’s Donut is also located there too. Though, my favorite donut in Vancouver is either Cartems or Mello. You can try all of them and let me know which one you like the most! Then embark on outdoor adventures of gentle hiking trails in North Vancouver or Deep Cove. Indulge the city’s diverse culinary offerings, dine in at Michelin approved, award-winning restaurants like Anh and Chi for modern Vietnamese cuisine or Published on Main for fine-dining. Also, make sure to rent a bike and ride along the seawall to take in the scenic nature of beauty that Vancouver has to offer. You can ride from Stanley Park all the way to Spanish Banks. Take a day trip to Whistler for alpine exploration and treat yourself to an ultimate relaxation at Scandinave Spa.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
In my journey towards creative fulfillment and entrepreneurial success, there have been numerous individuals whose unwavering support, mentorship, and encouragement have profoundly shaped my path. One person who deserves my heartfelt shoutout is my partner, who has been a guiding light and source of wisdom throughout my life. His unconditional love, words of encouragement, and strong belief in my entrepreneurial venture – even when I don’t even believe in myself – have inspired me to push boundaries, cultivate resilience, and strive for excellence in all my endeavors. Additionally, the artistic community and collaborators who have shared their expertise, vision, and collaborative spirit have played a pivotal role in shaping my creative journey and fostering a culture of shared success and innovation.
