We had the good fortune of connecting with Mary Power and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mary, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I was bored during Covid and had plenty of free time. I had already built a following through Broads of Bourbon and there was a huge group of local enthusiasts in Las Vegas where we started that had money they wanted to spend. Whiskey was a hobby and I wanted to turn it into something fun for the community.

What should our readers know about your business?
I think what sets us apart from other whiskey clubs is that we don’t try to take anything too seriously. We just want to drink good whiskey and have fun. There also aren’t a lot of whiskey clubs that are run by women. Whiskey has always been a “man’s drink” so some people automatically discredit us. We want to make whiskey more approachable for everyone, especially women. We also want to highlight distilleries we believe in, even if they aren’t that popular yet. I’ve learned to trust my instincts, I know I pick good whiskeys and other people will know that once they try them.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Whenever someone comes to visit we have a few restaurants that we always go to. Adelitas Cocina Y Cantina for Margaitas and the Cielo Mar y Tierra Molcajete. Lucina Eatery & Bar, everything there is fantastic. Oblio’s for pizza. One Fold for breakfast. Cerebral Brewing is our favorite brewery.

For places to go, we love the Botanic Gardens. We also like to hike in Golden and Morrison.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to shoutout all of the members of our group, we wouldn’t be able to continue without them. They trust my palate and have stuck with me for the last four years.
