We had the good fortune of connecting with Jomyrin Mckeel and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jomyrin, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
Starting a clothing brand is not easy, but I would say the main habit that has helped me and is still currently helping me succeed is finding different ways to market your brand consistently.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I would most definitely have to start from the beginning and that would be with my career that I am chasing currently and that is to be one of the biggest sports analysts with one of the most impactful shows in the sports industry. I have always had a passion for sports in general since a child. and one day I told myself that I was either going to be in the NBA or doing something around sports. The sports show I have now (J&J Sports) has taken me a minute to develop. there were a lot of late nights and early morning grinds to get it to the level that it is currently. it was not easy creating and building but I thank God for all the hardship and for just sending the right people in my life for guidance and Motivation.

Another job that I currently work and have worked my way to would be a sports radio producer for one of the biggest radio stations in Houston. That journey and love for not only sports but also radio was not easy. It all started with me going out on faith needing some internships under my resume before graduating. Attending this internship job event at my school changed my entire life. I was able to gain two internships that I was able to work for through my last two school semesters. My first internship was as an entry-level radio host for the UHDI radio station at my school. in this process, I was running two shows by myself both business and sports. Running both of these shows made me learn about balance and being able to connect to people with sports and business through my clothing line. This experience also helped me find great sports co-hosts for my current show by just me reaching out. After the internship ended not only was I able to accomplish the internship, but I also achieved the award of the best on-air talent for that year. after that internship, I also had the opportunity to work with one of the major sports radio stations in Houston which was ESPN 97.5. This was my big break, and I am truly thankful for this chance to work with some amazing people and also meet some inspirational sports analysts that you see on TV today. The key thing I want everyone else to understand is that I was working both of these internships for free for one whole year. This shows the passion I have for sports and my career in General. It also helped me realize you have to make certain sacrifices to make it to the next level.

My clothing brand started with just an idea of my passion for fashion and my background of where came from which is New Orleans, Louisiana. The overall message and phrase of my brand “I’M TOO LIT” represents self-confidence and motivation and I want everyone to feel confident in themselves when wearing the brand, I share my creativity through my life experiences and culture of the style of streetwear.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
The city of Houston, Texas has a lot of opportunities for business and fun food places and spots. If my friend was coming down, I would take them to the rooftop bar (Z on the 23). They have a lot of beautiful skyline buildings and great BBQ food places.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have so many people to thank, but I will sum it up to my top 5 in a list below.
