We had the good fortune of connecting with Cody Caplinger and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cody, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
When it comes to taking risks, I see it as a key part of growing and making progress. Sure, it can be scary, but stepping into the unknown is often where the best opportunities are found.

In my life and career, taking risks has been huge. Some of the best things that have happened to me came because I decided to take a chance.

Take meeting my wife, for example. I risked getting rejected when I approached her at the bar, but it was totally worth it. She’s been my rock and my inspiration ever since. I still remember that moment when I asked her to be my wife vividly – the nerves, the anticipation, and then the incredible joy when she said yes.

Starting Klick Solar was another big risk. I put my life savings on the line to start this company. Before diving in, I thought a lot about the worst-case and best-case scenarios. The worst-case? Failing and losing all my savings. The best-case? Building a successful business that serves thousands of homeowners, develops careers, and changes lives. After weighing it all, I realized that even though the risk was big, the potential rewards were even bigger. And it paid off. Klick Solar has become a company I’m incredibly proud of.

Then there’s buying a home. That was another nerve-wracking decision, with the risk that I might not always be able to afford it. But taking that plunge has given my family stability and a place we can truly call home. The sense of security and joy we’ve found in our home is priceless.

In business, taking risks is what keeps us ahead. It pushes us to innovate, explore new markets, and keep up with the fast-paced changes around us. For example, when we decided to open the Oregon market, it was a gamble. But we believed in our vision and our team, and it paid off with increased market share and better brand recognition.

Of course, not all risks work out perfectly. But even when things don’t go as planned, there’s always something to learn. Each setback teaches us something new and helps us become more resilient.

I like to think of it this way: Results = Rewards. The more we’re willing to take smart risks, the bigger the rewards can be. This mindset has shaped how I approach both life and business. It’s all about embracing challenges and going after opportunities.

In the end, taking risks isn’t just about what you might lose, but about what you stand to gain. It’s been a game-changer for me, bringing both personal satisfaction and professional success. So, if you’re aiming for greatness, don’t be afraid to take that leap.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
At Klick Solar, we keep things simple. Instead of pushy sales tactics, we tell stories to help you understand solar energy. And here’s the kicker – we only use top-notch equipment that we’d trust on our own homes, or even our grandmothers’!

In the five years since we started, we’ve proudly helped over 3,000 homeowners make the switch to solar. Sure, the industry can be bumpy, but we’re committed to honesty and transparency, even when others aren’t.

Looking forward, we’re not just about selling panels. We’re on a mission to make solar energy easy and accessible for everyone. When you choose Klick Solar, you’re not just getting a product; you’re joining us in creating a cleaner, brighter future.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
For a great time in Denver, I’d suggest catching a show at Red Rocks, grabbing breakfast at Snooze, and checking out a professional sports game if there’s one happening. Then, for a little adventure, take a day trip to Glenwood Springs to hike Hanging Lake.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to extend my heartfelt appreciation to:

Rachel Caplinger, my wife, whose unwavering support has been the bedrock of my journey as a startup owner.

Chase Burke, my business partner, whose complementary strengths have been integral to Klick’s growth.

Sean Sutton, my mentor, for imparting unconventional wisdom that propelled our progress.

My family, for fostering my passion for business and sales, guiding me to where I am today.

Their support, mentorship, and encouragement have been instrumental in my success.
