We had the good fortune of connecting with Mike C and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mike, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I always wanted to have something of my own. Despite the economic crisis and working a 9 to 5 job, I’ve always had the urge to grow and multiply my potential instead of jumping from one office to another. Fate always had me partnering up with JD, my partner out of nowhere and here we stand with a team of 25 people working as a family.
Other though, I’ve always wanted to achieve my goals at a younger age so I started to analyze things practically. This led to change my career from being an engineer to a sheer marketing guru dedicated on working with upcoming artists.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
As a CEO/Co-Founder of Royal Group of companies, our business is involved in various disciplines of marketing. We started off working as a music marketing agency and as of now our expertise lie in digital marketing for businesses, accounting and finance management for small businesses, software development, medical billing, certifications and authorizations. Recently we have partnered up with a luxury car rental and our presence is now in Dubai too.
I would say the only thing that sets us apart from our competitors is that we know the values of our clients. I come from a background that wasn’t born with a golden spoon so as a business owner, my realization is solid that the growth of any business is directly related to its clients. If there clients are happy and growing, the business automatically grows and hence the revenue. Secondly, the secret to a successful business is your transparency and clarity with the clientele. Many businesses false claim their services just to close a sale. I believe in professionalism and transparency during communication with a client.
As it took us a good time to build our business, it was never easy to reach to the point where I am. From zero investment and funding ourselves from our job, we started as a two man business. We reached to a point where we hired some employees on a remote basis because we couldn’t afford an office until we got to a point where we built our office, equipment worth $20,000, a team of 25+ people, an office and more.
I say the lesson I learnt during my journey was just one, consistency. I was determined to achieve something and was consistent, despite the hard work, I was just consistent and here I am!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would say Denver has a lot to offer. Now that would depend on my friend’s interests too. A weeks worth of trip could incur a lot of places to show. From checking out Denver Pavilions to going to 16th Street Mall. Larimer Square would be an interesting place to check out. McGregor Square and Milk Market is a nice place to show someone on their first visit.
A decent visit to the red rocks would be a good day to spend at.
Lower Highland has some of the most innovative restaurant like and bars like Linger and Avanti F & B.
A day trip to the rocky mountain national park that some really nice attractions.
There are too many places to go to for example, Colorado Springs, Idaho Springs, Mount Blue Sky. I believe such places are a must visit for someone coming to Colorado.
Denver also is a great spot for enjoying the nightlife. Bit peaceful than all the other major cities, I personally love the vibe overall of the city and I think its a great vacation spot especially in relation to the weather.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Well, my shoutout is certainly only to my partner JD who initiated and pushed me to start something of our own while working a 9 to 5 job. From working at coffee shops to building an office and crossing six figures in two years was never an easy nut to crack. I would say I owe a lot to my partner for the initiative and my family for being behind my back while switching from an engineering background to a marketing professional.
