Meet Lynn Hurley | Contemporary Abstract Realism Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Lynn Hurley and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lynn, why did you pursue a creative career?
After years in the healthcare industry and being a partner in a business, I found myself burnt out from building others’ dreams. I realized it was time to focus on my true passion—art. Art has always been my calling, a source of joy and inspiration throughout my life. Taking the leap to pursue it full-time has been incredibly fulfilling on a soul level. It’s like coming home to a part of myself that had been waiting to be fully expressed. I love the creativity, the freedom, and the ability to connect with others through my work in ways that resonate deeply. This journey into the art world has been the best decision ever, and I feel more alive, inspired, and excited about the future than I could have ever imagined!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Please tell us more about your art. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, and what you are most proud of or excited about.
I’m a contemporary abstract realism artist, and my primary focus is painting women. Through my art, I hope to convey the complexity of the human experience and the beauty that lies within it. I strive for my art to provoke emotion and resonate deeply with viewers. I incorporate various materials, such as pages from books, poetry, quotes, and antique book pages, to craft each piece. You may never see the printed material, but it’s there, setting the tone and energy of the painting. Every artwork is carefully designed to capture a specific mood or intention, setting the tone for the final product. I often draw inspiration from words, using their energy as a starting point for my canvas.
What I’m most proud of is how my paintings explore what it means to be human, with a particular focus on celebrating the female form. By incorporating elements of nature, spirituality, and emotion, I hope to create pieces that deeply connect with viewers and inspire them to see the world in new ways.
How did you get to where you are today professionally? Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges?
Lynn Hurley: My journey to becoming a professional artist has been anything but easy. After years in the healthcare industry and running a small business, I found myself burnt out from building others’ dreams. It was a challenging transition to shift my focus entirely to art. There were countless moments of self-doubt and financial uncertainty, but I overcame these challenges through perseverance and a deep belief in my passion. My husband Brian has been my rock, providing unwavering support, which made a world of difference.
Each step, every hurdle, has taught me the importance of resilience, the power of a support system, and the value of staying true to oneself.
What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way?
Lynn Hurley: One of the most valuable lessons I’ve learned is the importance of authenticity. Staying true to my vision and voice has been crucial in creating art that resonates deeply with others. I’ve also learned that persistence is key. The journey to becoming a professional artist is filled with challenges, but each obstacle is an opportunity for growth. Lastly, I’ve discovered the incredible power of community and support. Surrounding myself with people who believe in me and my work has been instrumental in my success.
What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
Lynn Hurley: I want the world to know that my art is a testament to the beauty and complexity of the female experience. My paintings capture the essence of femininity in a way that is both powerful and delicate, celebrating the unique qualities that make women so special. Through my use of natural imagery, I invite viewers to reconnect with the world around them and see themselves as part of something greater. My work is infused with a sense of spirituality that speaks to our deepest hopes and aspirations, reminding us that there is more to life than what meets the eye.
By sharing my vision, I hope to be an ambassador for creativity and compassion, inspiring people to embrace their unique gifts and pursue their dreams with passion and purpose. My journey is a testament to the transformative power of following one’s passion and the incredible impact art can have on the soul.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Our week-long itinerary would be an art and beauty lover’s dream! Here’s how we’d make the most of our time in the Denver metro area:
Day 1: Denver Botanic Gardens
We’d start with a leisurely afternoon at the Denver Botanic Gardens, surrounded by serene beauty and lush flora. Perhaps we’d even join a class to deepen our connection with nature and art.
Day 2: Denver Art Museum
Next, it’s off to the Denver Art Museum. With its diverse exhibitions and thought-provoking collections, there’s always something to inspire and ignite our creativity.
Day 3: Meow Wolf
For a surreal adventure, we’d immerse ourselves in the imaginative world of Meow Wolf. It’s more than an art exhibit; it’s a journey into creativity and wonder that will leave us mesmerized.
Day 4: Red Rocks Amphitheater
As the sun sets, we’d experience the magic of Red Rocks Amphitheater with a live concert. The natural acoustics and stunning surroundings make it a truly unforgettable evening.
Rest of the Week: Exploring Denver’s Art Scene
The remaining days would be dedicated to exploring Denver’s vibrant art scene. We’d visit local galleries, uncover hidden gems known only to locals, and savor delicious cuisine along the way. And, of course, we’d venture out for some plein air painting in the picturesque landscapes of Estes Park.
Each day would blend inspiration, creativity, and unforgettable moments—a perfect mix of art, beauty, and exploration in one of the most dynamic cities.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I also want to give a huge shout-out to my husband Brian—he’s my biggest supporter and my rock. I wouldn’t have been able to pursue art full-time without his unwavering support. His belief in me has made all the difference, and I am so grateful for his constant encouragement and love!
