We had the good fortune of connecting with Lacey Perash and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lacey, as a parent, what do you feel is the most meaningful thing you’ve done for them?
As a parent, the most impactful thing I’ve done is to create a supportive and flexible learning environment that respects and nurtures my children’s individual interests and needs. By focusing on homeschooling, I’ve been able to tailor their education to their unique strengths and passions, allowing them to explore and grow in ways that align with their personal identity. This approach not only fosters their academic development but also encourages them to become confident and authentic individuals.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I transitioned from being a dance studio owner and competition judge to becoming a stay-at-home mom, which led me to immerse myself in homeschooling. This shift highlighted the crucial role of literacy in our daily lives, making books more important than ever in our household. What sets me apart is my unique blend of experiences in the arts and education, which has given me a deep appreciation for the impact of quality literature on a child’s development. I’m most proud of my efforts to promote literacy by connecting parents with exceptional books and resources. The journey to where I am today wasn’t always easy. Balancing the demands of a new role while navigating the world of homeschooling required significant adaptation and learning. Overcoming these challenges involved embracing flexibility, seeking support from homeschool communities, and continually refining our educational approach. The key lessons I’ve learned include the importance of adaptability, the power of community support, and the profound influence that access to great books can have on a child’s growth. I want the world to know that my commitment to literacy is driven by a genuine passion for fostering a love of reading and learning in every child, leveraging my background and experiences to make a meaningful impact.
