We had the good fortune of connecting with Carrin Fernandes and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Carrin, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Helping people out of pain is my life’s passion! I became a massage therapist in the year 2000. It has been one of the most beneficial things I did in my life. To learn and understand human anatomy and how to help alleviate chronic pain, injuries, stress and to bring the body back into homeostasis where it belongs. This brings me great satisfaction to help others obtain optimal health.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I had my private practice in Westfield, New Jersey for almost 15 years. I built my practice all from word of mouth. It was challenging at first because I didn’t advertise. Slowly my practice became very successful.
What set me apart from other therapists in my area was that I offered a complete body, mind, and spirit component to all my therapies.
I include the young living essential oils at no extra charge. These are great for not only muscle aches, spasms, strains, but also they are great for helping to alleviate depression, anxiety, & stress. I do not up charge for any type of pressure or massage modality. I also include energetic work (reiki) and sound healing at no extra cost as well.
Our bodies are our vehicles for life. So taking care of the maintenance of our mind, and body should not be looked at as a luxury, but as a necessity.
I want to make it affordable for everyone to come with regularity.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take my friends to Garden of the Gods, Pikes peak and to old Colorado city to eat. I would also take them to a mountain town like Crested Butte or Summit County.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I dedicate this effort and my success to first and foremost my Creator for giving me my talents, desires and abilities and to my mom who died when I was 18.
She was my inspiration for getting into Massage Therapy.
