We had the good fortune of connecting with Jayme Greenfield and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jayme, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My dream was to open a wedding venue in the beautiful Colorado mountains to give couples a special place to get married. My husband and I have owned a couple of businesses and we wanted one to carry us through our retirement years. We decided to build our dream venue, work hard at it for a few years, then hire some help and enjoy retirement!
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I was a stay at home mom and loved that! My husband owned a successful plumbing business and I did the books for him and took phone calls from our customers. When our kids were older I worked in the school district. We bought, remodeled, and sold several homes throughout the years and made the move to Buena Vista when our youngest was in high school. My husband and I have always worked hard, through business and economy ups and downs. My dad owned several businesses and taught us a lot about ownership. I believe that God was always, and still is, a big part of our professional successes. The desire to do our wedding venue was put in my heart by Him. In all we have done in our careers, we have learned that being honest, kind and encouraging to everyone we meet has made us who we are!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would definitely take my best friend to the beautiful mountains in Buena Vista! We would hit up the Roastery for coffee and a bite to eat and then shop around downtown at CKS, The Mercantile, and The View gift shop. That evening we could choose to eat dinner at one of the fun restaurants like Eddyline Brewery or The Viking! We would hike a little and walk by the beautiful river! I would love to show her Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs, the awesome Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, and spend the night at The Broadmoor Hotel! We would spend a day in Estes Park and tour the Stanley Hotel, make our way over Trail Ridge Road to Grand Lake. We would attend a play at the Rocky Mountain Repertory Theater and stay at Grand Lake Lodge. We would then head to Steamboat Springs and stay overnight in a Condo. The next day we would have brunch at Winona’s and then float the Yampa River. Last stop would be Breckenridge to walk and shop around town.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My husband, family and friends believed in my dream and encouraged me, prayed for me and jumped in to help with anything I needed! My husband and I walked this journey of building our barn together and he was amazing from the beginning and still is now!
