We had the good fortune of connecting with Angela Kleinsasser and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Angela, what do you attribute your success to?
I think the success of my brand is directly related to my relationship with my clients! I treat each customer as if they are a friend (and many have become my friends!), and with my studio being in my home, I welcome each client as a guest. I try to show my real self and life on social media, and let everyone in on my life, which I believe helps my clients to feel more comfortable at our session, because they already feel like they know me. I do not upsell, or add on extra charges, as my main goal is to have repeat customers, not just make as much money as possible at one transaction. I believe my business has thrived because my clients are loyal and come back to me year after year.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I got my start as most photographers do – I found myself home with my first baby, wanting to capture it all, and not being happy with my options for photo studios (I wanted to own the digital images!). I had taught Yearbook (and therefore basic photography) at the high school level previously and figured I may as well do something creative to break up the monotonous days of staying home with a baby. I discovered that I could be good at it, and I really enjoyed meeting new people and providing this service for them! Over the years I made a lot of little decisions and investments in myself and my business, like each time I bought a nicer camera, or took another course to learn more. A big jump was about 10 years ago when I decided I wanted to specialize in newborn photography. I transformed a room in my home to a studio, invested a lot of money in props/bows/wraps/hats/etc. and took some very expensive (but necessary) courses in posing safely. I always assumed I’d “go back to work” when all my kids were in school, but I discovered that somehow my little business had actually become a big business and I could never give it up at this point! Another jump was 2 years ago when I added on another brand to my business – Branding photos for individuals and businesses. This has expanded my reach further, and feels like I’m “growing up” with my business.

I LOVE my customers (who feel more like friends!) and love being a part of their story. Recently, due to life changes, I’ve become responsible for supporting myself. I NEVER would have dreamed that I could do that with my photography business, but here I am. I truly believe the sky is the limit. I can’t wait to grow and learn more and be able to provide an even better product and experience for my customers. I’m a content person, but I’m never satisfied. I’m always hungry for more, and I will always work to make my business even better for all my loyal customers! I TRULY love what I do!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My absolute favorite thing to do in Colorado is explore the great outdoors. A perfect weekend for me would include a cabin in the woods, with multiple hikes planned each day. Sitting by a mountain stream would be the best way to spend a few hours.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My kids have been my biggest source of inspiration, and are why I work so hard. They have always been understanding when I have to work, and are grateful for the way I am able to provide for them. My friends and family, and my customers, are a close second. Everyone has always encouraged me in the job, and believed in me enough to hire me, and tell others about me! Ultimately, I owe all that I have and am, to the gifts and talents that God has given me. I’m fully aware I’d be nothing on my own.
