Meet Piper Mavro | Book & Beer Connoisseur

We had the good fortune of connecting with Piper Mavro and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Piper, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
I got a degree in Brewing Sciences in college and loved being apart of the beer world. My mother was really worried that I wouldn’t be able to find a job since I kept posting beer on my personal instagram so I started a new one! Really funny to think about how LagersLipstickLiterature has helped me pursue so many dreams in the beer industry and it all started because my mom was worried about me finding a job! So shoutout to Mama Mav for the push to start it!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I have worked in every aspect of the beer industry except owning my own brewery! From specialty lagers to barrel aged beers I’ve done it all! Getting to experience the back of house jobs (like brewing, packaging, and cellar work) on top of more customer facing aspects (bartending and sales) has given me a love for every moving part that makes a brewery the best it can be. Being more female presenting in a male dominated industry has its ups and downs but I can honestly say there is no such thing as “girl beer”. Everyone palette is different and no one should yuck someone else’s yum when it comes to beer!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Denver has so many great breweries that it’s hard to narrow down which breweries I would take my besties too! I have so much love for Our Mutual Friend and Ratio (and they’re a block from each other!) so I take everyone there. Platt Park Brewing is one of my favorite spots for lunch and a beer. They always have a great variety of beer!
Bear Creek Distilling has some of the most fun cocktails in town. They have their flagships as well as seasonal rotators. Trust me when I say in the summer you HAVE to get the Key Lime Pie Martini!
If we’re in the mood for cocktails (and hot dogs), I always suggest Yacht Club. The vibes are immaculate and I think it’s such a unique spot.
I think I’ve taken all my friends to Dio Mio for pasta. It’s my go to for every single person who’s never been to Denver before and you can never go wrong with pasta for dinner!
As a queer person it would be a crime to not take someone to Petals and Pages to buy a book then down the street to Town Hall Collaborative for a cocktail or coffee and read! Both of those places tend to host some pretty cool events also so it’s never hard to find something to do.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Outside of my mom who was the whole reason I started this page, the Bad B*tch Book Club! When I joined the book club four years ago I never would’ve imagined how much I could expand my reading! They challenge me to be the best version of myself every day!
