Meet Jarrett Shaffer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jarrett Shaffer and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jarrett, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I’ve always had an entrepreneurial spirit and wanted to start companies, businesses, rock bands, etc. haha. I started an online music sharing company when I was in college as well as have been a part of multiple bands. Wundervue started as both a passion of mine as well as also seeing a gap in the market in terms of providing valuable, local things-to-do and best-of content for local audiences. I love all things local – things to do, restaurants, events, stores, and I wanted to create a place where people who live in Denver and Colorado as a whole can go to get updated information on the best things about Denver and Colorado. There are a lot of other blogs or influencers out there creating a similar type of content, but that content is either not up-to-date or it highlights specific places in the moment, but then the content gets buried underneath newer content.

Overall, I wanted to shine a light on all of the amazing local things and businesses in Denver and around Colorado and know that, coming from owning a marketing agency, local businesses have a hard time marketing themselves and don’t have the expertise or money to get the word out about the great things that they are doing. So, as a marketer with experience marketers within our company, what better way to partner with local businesses and be able to get them in front of new audiences and potential visitors.

What should our readers know about your business?
The biggest challenge with Wundervue has been being able to focus on developing a product that is brand new and currently, isn’t the largest source of revenue for our company. From a business perspective, a big challenge is always doing what is needed today to keep the business going versus planning for the future and creating something that you know will drive a large amount of value for your local community.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
This is a great question as this is the purpose of Wundervue – to find and enjoy the best spots in the city!

There are so many things to see and do in Colorado, so it it hard to narrow it down, especially if I can choose places all across Colorado or if I should focus just on Denver. In terms of my personal favorite spots, here are just a few.

For food and drinks, I love – Cart Driver, Bacon Social House, Crosscut in Nederland, The Canteen in Breckenridge, Dewey Beer Co, Westbound and Down, and The Bindery just to name a few.

For activities – exploring mountain towns close to Denver like Evergreen, Nederland, Rollinsville, Estes Park, going hiking with our dog Walter, skiing across Colorado’s amazing ski mountains, escaping to remote cabins, exploring Denver and Colorado’s incredible local shops, going to Red Rocks to see an amazing show, and attending sporting events as I route for all Colorado sports teams – Broncos, Nuggets, Avalanche, Rockies, and Buffaloes!

First and foremost, I want to thank my wife, Erica, for always supporting me, being there for me, and being my partner on this journey with Wundervue. Erica is not only my partner, but also an integral part to Wundervue’s success.
