We had the good fortune of connecting with Sarah Senst and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sarah, what habits do you feel helped you succeed?
I was raised and came from a generation with a strong work ethic. I commit to my clients by showing up on time, offering timely communication and delivering excellent value! The skills I learned as a teenager still serve me today. I treat my clients with respect and kindness. It is very important to set healthy boundaries, both for my clients and for self-preservation. This helps me avoid burnout. I engage in self- care practices such as outdoor walks (oh the benefit of fresh air and sun!), alone time to journal, meditate and record my daily gratitude. It’s important to me to stay connected to family and friends. I follow a morning routine called SAVERS which stands for Silence, Affirmations, Visualizations, Exercise (I do morning stretches), Reading and Scribing (writing). There is huge benefit in starting my day this way. I clear my mind, remind myself of my focus and goals, center myself and get my day started on the right foot! I have always been a life long learner and strongly believe in staying educated on the latest industry and business practices. I do a lot of work on my money mindset by way of educational books and podcasts. There is so much free content available now to help you with your thinking and business growth!

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My first career was in residential real estate until 2008. We all know how that story ended! I pivoted and reinvented myself. At the age of 47 I received my Masters in Counseling Degree and began a career as a therapist. I’ve always enjoyed helping others and wanted to combine that with an industry I felt would be resistant to economic swings. I was right! I began in a small group counseling practice and in November of 2019 opened my own private practice. This was one of the best decisions I’ve made! During that time I created a six-figure business, which is fairly uncommon in the counseling world. I share this to encourage and support others who may be considering a major career change. Especially to women who are in their ‘Second Act’ facing the potential challenges of ageism, divorce, retirement, becoming widowed or empty nesters and for those considering re-careering as I did! This was not an easy change for me but with determination, strong work ethic, working on my mindset (and yes I went to therapy!) and studying my industry to find ways to increase my income I’ve made it a success. Not only do I earn six figures but I do it in less than 40 hours per week. This allows me to focus on my 3 adult children, 2 granddaughters, treasured friends and self-care. I want anyone to know change is possible, no matter what age!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I learned long ago that success leaves clues. The majority of my mentors are actually unknown to me! Authors Tony Robbins (Unlimited Power), Mel Robbins (Let Them), Steven Covey (Success Principles) and many more! As silly as it may sound Oprah Winfrey has had a significant impact on my life. The way I think, learning what’s possible and even influencing my career choices.

I have been very fortunate that everyone in my close circle have been incredibly supportive
