We had the good fortune of connecting with Christine Difrancesco and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Christine, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
Equine Assisted Recovery Coaching offers clients a unique opportunity to step out of their everyday lives and into nature to explore their challenges in a serene, healing environment. The horses possess an extraordinary ability to sense what each person needs on a deeper, emotional level. When clients leave the ranch, they often feel lighter, calmer, and more at peace. Through this connection, clients learn to see others through the lens of empathy and compassion, just as the horses see them. This ripple effect spreads positivity and light into the world. My mission is to raise the vibration of the planet, one person at a time, and my herd is an essential part of that journey.

What should our readers know about your business?
What sets me apart is my tenacity, rooted in faith, and my ability to surrender and let go of what I can’t control. Building Serenity Stables was a leap of faith—a journey guided by trusting my intuition and taking deliberate action toward a vision I deeply believed in. Purchasing a horse ranch was no small feat, but every step was an act of trust in something bigger than myself.

I’m incredibly proud of how far Serenity Stables has come. In 2024, we served over 1,000 people, which is beyond anything I could have imagined. This spring, I’m launching the Serenity Stables Foundation: A Fence of Recovery, a nonprofit to expand our reach. I’m thrilled that my husband Gerald is joining this mission. After 30 years in communications, he’s leaving his career to manage the nonprofit side of the business. Having my best friend and biggest supporter by my side makes this journey even more special, and it’s something I never thought would be possible.

Getting here wasn’t easy. Early on, I was working at IHOP while caring for three horses. I’d spend my days working for tips, then head to the feed store to buy just a few bales of hay, feed the horses, and head back to work to repeat the process. Some days I wasn’t sure I’d have enough to feed them, but somehow, they never missed a meal. Those times were terrifying, but they taught me resilience.

Building Serenity Stables required relentless networking and immersing myself in the recovery community. I worked hard to form and maintain partnerships and made it my mission to ensure everyone who came to Serenity Stables left feeling better than when they arrived.

I’ve learned countless lessons along the way, but the biggest one is balance. Running a business, caring for five horses, and managing a home and family is a lot, and I’ve had to prioritize self-care and rest. I’ve also learned to trust my inner guidance and listen to what’s needed, whether it’s for my clients, my herd, or myself.

If there’s one thing, I want the world to know, it’s that anything is possible if you believe in your dreams and refuse to accept limitations. I was a middle-aged, broke, addicted woman who rebuilt her life because I believed I could. Learning to love myself—truly love myself for the first time—was the key to overcoming decades of alcoholism and pain.

It takes courage to follow your heart. It means letting go of false beliefs and surrendering to what unfolds. My horses taught me this when I finally began to listen. If humanity is to thrive, I believe we must learn to live from our hearts in all aspects of life. My mission is to help others discover this truth, one person at a time.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Dr. Lacey Berumen is the reason I’m here today, doing equine-assisted recovery coaching. She was my DUI therapist, and after about six months of classes, she approached me with a life-changing opportunity. She asked if I wanted to become a peer coach and even offered to teach me the first part of my credential voluntarily. She told me she saw something in me, something worth cultivating, and encouraged me to pursue this path—one I didn’t even know existed at the time. Dr. Lacey guided me, introduced me to the right people, and helped me build the connections I needed to grow. Her belief in me not only shaped my journey but also launched me into my calling, purpose, and mission here on this planet.
