We had the good fortune of connecting with MacKayla Nohr and Dillon Schuh and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi MacKayla and Dillon, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Starting Solstice Chiropractic was more than just opening a business—it was about following our hearts and creating something truly special for families in our community. We’ve both experienced firsthand how life-changing chiropractic care can be, and we wanted to bring that same level of care, support, and education to others.

From the very beginning, we knew we wanted to build a space where families feel welcomed, heard, and empowered in their health journeys. We didn’t just want to join an existing practice—we wanted the freedom to create something that reflects our passion for holistic wellness, especially for moms, babies, and kids.

For us, this isn’t just a job. It’s a calling. We believe every family deserves a place where they can feel supported, where questions are met with real answers, and where care is focused on getting to the root of health challenges—not just managing symptoms. Solstice Chiropractic is our way of giving back, of creating a community where families can truly thrive.

We’re so excited to bring this vision to life in Colorado Springs, and we can’t wait to be a part of your family’s wellness journey!

What should our readers know about your business?
Solstice Chiropractic isn’t just a chiropractic office—it’s a space where families can truly thrive. Our focus is on prenatal, pediatric, and family wellness care, helping moms, babies, and kids navigate health challenges and build a strong foundation for lifelong well-being. What sets us apart is our deep commitment to creating a welcoming, supportive environment where families feel heard and empowered in their health journeys.

One of the things we’re most proud of is the community we’re building. From the moment you step into our office, we want you to feel at home, heard, and supported. Our care goes beyond just addressing symptoms—we take a proactive approach to help families function and feel their best. We’re also proud to be one of the few offices in Colorado Springs using Insight CLA scanning technology, allowing us to assess nervous system function with incredible precision.

But getting to where we are today wasn’t easy. Like many small business owners, we faced our fair share of challenges—navigating financing, securing the right location, and balancing the many moving parts of starting a practice from scratch. We overcame those obstacles through persistence, faith, and an incredible support system. We’ve learned to trust the process, lean on our mentors, and stay focused on our mission—because at the end of the day, serving families and changing lives makes every challenge worth it.

If there’s one thing we want the world to know about Solstice Chiropractic, it’s that we’re here for you. We’re not just another chiropractic office—we’re a place where families find connection, answers, and a path to better health. Whether you’re a first-time mom, a parent navigating sensory challenges with your child, or simply looking for a proactive approach to wellness, we’re here to walk that journey with you.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If we had a best friend visiting Colorado Springs, we’d make sure they got to experience everything we love about this city—great coffee, delicious local eats, and plenty of time outdoors.

We’d definitely start with coffee at The Coffee Exchange—it’s one of our go-to spots, whether we need a quiet place to work or just want to enjoy a good latte. For food, we love Black Forest Foods Café & Delicatessen—it’s a bit tucked away, but their fresh, locally sourced meals are always amazing. And of course, no trip would be complete without a stop at Skirted Heifer for their incredible burgers and Josh & John’s Ice Cream for a scoop (or two) of their homemade, small-batch flavors.

But the best part of Colorado Springs? The outdoors. We’d take them hiking through Garden of the Gods, because no matter how many times we go, it never gets old. The rock formations are breathtaking, and it’s one of those places that just feels magical. North Cheyenne Cañon is another favorite, especially with the waterfalls and shaded trails that make you forget you’re still in the city. If we’re up for a longer adventure, Red Rock Canyon Open Space or Palmer Park are great for catching some stunning views without the crowds.

For something a little different, we’d visit Ivywild School—a cool, repurposed school building with great food, local craft drinks, and a fun atmosphere. It’s the kind of place where you can just relax and soak in the local vibe.

At the end of the day, what makes Colorado Springs so special is the balance of amazing local spots and easy access to nature. Whether it’s grabbing coffee, hiking a beautiful trail, or just spending time in the fresh mountain air, there’s something here for everyone. We love this city, and we love sharing it with people who come to visit!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Absolutely! We wouldn’t be where we are today without the incredible support, mentorship, and encouragement we’ve received along the way.

First, we want to give a huge shoutout to Delta Sigma Chi Professional Chiropractic Fraternity. This organization played a pivotal role in shaping us both personally and professionally. It’s more than just a fraternity—it’s a family of chiropractors who push each other to be the best versions of themselves. Through Delta Sigma Chi, we gained not only lifelong friendships but also invaluable mentorship and a deeper understanding of chiropractic’s true purpose. The principles we learned and the connections we made continue to inspire us daily as we build our practice.

We also want to recognize MacKayla’s parents, Jason and Karen, for their unwavering support and belief in us. From the very beginning, they’ve been our biggest cheerleaders, always encouraging us to chase our dreams—even when the road was uncertain. Their generosity, guidance, and unconditional love have been instrumental in making Solstice Chiropractic a reality.

Building this practice has been a journey filled with highs, challenges, and countless learning moments, and we’re so grateful for the incredible people who have walked alongside us. Solstice Chiropractic wouldn’t be what it is without the support of those who have poured into us, and we carry their influence with us in everything we do!
