Meet R. Kwinn | Feral Bog Witch

We had the good fortune of connecting with R. Kwinn and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi R., what are you inspired by?
Inspired by the dreamers, the lovers of nature, the wild child with wind in her hair and adventure in her eyes, the valiant tree huggers, beach goers and day trippers, sophisticated city slickers and gallant world travelers, sun worshipers and night chasers who might need a little natural beauty from this wondrous land that we all call home.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m convinced that there is a certain parallel that each of us can find if the moment is right and we choose to listen.
My storm of perfection was found deep within the forests where the warm wind whispered quietly as it frolicked around the great wise tree, dancing lightly over the tiny delicate fern. It stirred a certain sense of awe inside that I hadn’t felt since I was an itty-bitty. The gifts of this wise land had found me, untouched by the hand of man.
I kept this all to myself until it became this a great secret I wanted to share, a something that I knew some would scoff at and turn a blind eye to, but a secret so lovely that others might embrace and want more of.
I am a self-proclaimed bone collector, mushroom hunter and crystal enthusiast, with quartz being my favorite to nerd out on. Depending on the time of day and the degree at which the sun is shining, I’ll ramble on about how the crystal amulet adorning your neck will conjure happiness, protect, connect and bring you back. I could go on and on about how I pulled it out of the ground just so, as it waited for thousands of years in the dark rich soil for you, sparkly and uncut, absolutely perfect in it’s true form.
It’s not just about pretty necklaces and bracelets – it’s about preserving untamed beauty and pulling those quiet moments into a wearable reminder. It’s lovely to be able to carry unrefined pure nature with you.
Some might even call it magic.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
This is the moment where I lose some folks but hopefully gain more, as spending money and being seen aren’t on the agenda – the best time ever will take place out in the middle of nowhere where we disconnect with people and reconnect with the great outdoors, dilly-dallying and lallygagging in the wilds of San Luis Valley.
Who knows, maybe you’ll find some pretty rocks.
Maybe you’ll eat all of your backpack snacks and finish the water from your sticker covered bottle and I’ll offer you mine.
Maybe you’ll find a skull or maybe you’ll just end up with a treasure you’ll post later to Stick Nation.
Maybe you’ll only take photos and leave just footprints.
Possibilities are endless. Fun is guaranteed.
For those who would like specifics, I highly recommend immersing yourself in the Great Sand Dunes National Park (but please do let nature stay where nature is found)!
If you’re looking for more wise old trees and less sand, I’d dare throw out a recommendation to explore and rough it out on the Willow Lake Trail near Crestone. It is truly a majestic place.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My brother Spencer certainly deserves a shoutout – I’m so incredibly fortunate to have this smart, snarky and hilarious person in my life. He has always gone above and beyond in support of my wild life and is just an all around amazing human. I’m lucky to have him and honestly, anyone that doesn’t happen to know this guy is missing out.
While I’m living this chaotic experience he is out in Los Angeles with his gorgeous wife and crazy fun kiddos, working his ass off for a well-known and pretty cool company. I wouldn’t be the creature I am today without his support and want to be just like him when I grow up.
