Meet Alex Mozota

Today we’re excited to be connecting with Alex Mozota again. If you haven’t already, we suggest you check out our prior conversation with them here.
Alex, thanks for joining us again. Just to level set a bit for folks who may have missed our last interview together, can you briefly introduce yourself?
Hello, I’m Alex Mozota, founder of Drink for Pink, a Colorado-based 501(c)(3) charity dedicated to raising funds for breast cancer research. Our mission is to ensure that every dollar raised stays local, directly supporting research labs at the Anschutz Medical Campus. What sets us apart is our commitment to transparency and community involvement; we’re a 100% volunteer organization, and we publish annual reports detailing our fundraising and expenditures. Since our founding in 2015, we’ve raised over $200,000, thanks to grassroots fundraising efforts and partnerships with local breweries. Our journey has been marked by flexibility and a willingness to pivot, always staying true to our core vision while adapting our methods to best serve the cause.

Awesome, so we reached out because we wanted to hear all about what you have been up to since we last connected.
Since our last conversation, a lot has happened with Drink for Pink, and I’m excited to share an update with you. Over the past nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission: raising funds for breast cancer research and ensuring every dollar stays local to support impactful work at the Anschutz Medical Campus. Through the incredible support of our community, we’ve raised over $200,000 and made a tangible difference in advancing breast cancer research.
This year has been bittersweet, as we’ve made the difficult decision to close operations and wind down Drink for Pink. After nearly a decade of grassroots fundraising and connecting with passionate individuals, we feel it’s the right time to transition. While Drink for Pink as an independent charity is coming to a close, we’re thrilled to merge our efforts with the Cancer League of Colorado, specifically their Young Professionals chapter. This collaboration will amplify the impact of our mission and ensure the work we’ve started continues to thrive in new and exciting ways.
Looking back, it’s been a journey filled with incredible highs and a few challenges that taught us so much. From organizing unique events like Brewery Boot Camps to meeting brilliant researchers and hearing stories from those directly impacted by breast cancer, it’s been an unforgettable ride. What excites me most about this next chapter is the opportunity to scale our impact and connect with an even larger network of passionate individuals dedicated to this cause.
Closing this chapter is emotional, but it’s also a celebration of everything we’ve accomplished together. Thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey—we couldn’t have done it without your support, energy, and belief in what we’ve built. While this marks the end of Drink for Pink as you know it, the fight against breast cancer continues, and I’m excited to see where this next evolution leads.

When you look back on your life, what are three things you expect to be proud of?
First and foremost, my kids are my greatest source of pride and joy. Watching them grow, learn, and develop into their own unique selves has been the most rewarding experience of my life. They challenge me, inspire me, and remind me daily of what really matters. Being their parent is a role I cherish deeply, and I hope to leave them with a legacy of compassion, resilience, and curiosity.
Second, my career has been a journey filled with challenges and opportunities that have pushed me to grow in ways I never imagined. Whether it’s leading impactful projects or finding solutions to complex problems, I’m proud of the hard work and dedication I’ve poured into my professional life. It’s given me the chance to make a difference in my community and beyond, and I’m grateful for the people and experiences that have shaped me along the way.
Finally, I’ll always be proud of what we accomplished with Drink for Pink. Starting from an idea and growing it into a charity that raised over $200,000 for breast cancer research is something I’ll carry with me forever. It’s not just about the money raised, but the community we built and the lives we impacted through our work. Even as Drink for Pink concludes its chapter, I know the ripple effects of what we started will continue to make a difference for years to come.
These three things—my kids, my career, and Drink for Pink—represent different aspects of my life, but they all share a common thread: purpose and connection. I’m proud of the moments when I’ve poured my heart into something that truly matters, and I hope those moments will continue to define my story.
