Meet VERONICA CARABALLO

We had the good fortune of connecting with VERONICA CARABALLO and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi VERONICA, Let’s talk about principles and values – what matters to you most?
The value that matters most to me is Authenticity. I believe that being true to oneself is the foundation of meaningful work and genuine relationships. Authenticity isn’t just about honesty in self-expression; it’s about consistently aligning my actions, thoughts, and creations with who I truly am.
My experiences across different cultures and disciplines have taught me that when I embrace my unique voice and allow vulnerability, I create work that resonates on a deeper level. Whether I’m composing a song, developing a technological solution, or writing a story, I strive to infuse real emotion and purpose into everything I do.
Moreover, I learned early on from my parents—the mentors of my intellectual journey—that defending what I love and standing by my convictions is essential. As they instilled in me, you’re not being authentic if you don’t honor what you love. For me, authenticity is a promise I make to myself, a commitment to never compromise my truth, even when the path isn’t easy.
In essence, authenticity empowers me to build genuine connections, fuels my creativity, and grounds my work in a meaningful and transformative way.
In fact, to be part of a culture, a project, and your environment, you must love it for its authenticity. Therefore, I can say with absolute certainty: “The best promise is the one you make to yourself.” You can’t make a promise if you haven’t first committed to it.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Thank you! I’d love to share more about my art and my journey.
My art reflects a life lived at the crossroads of cultures, disciplines, and passions: a perfect fusion of music, technology, and storytelling. I don’t consider myself just a musician, an artist, or a technologist; I am all of these. And I am passionate about connecting these seemingly disparate worlds to create something meaningful and innovative.
As a bassist, singer, composer, and arranger, my music is deeply influenced by my diverse experiences.
I infuse my work with vibrant Latin rhythms along with elements of rock, jazz, and R&B. Each piece I create is an authentic narrative, interwoven with words, accents, rhythms, and stories that span multiple cultures and dialects. This intercultural dialogue is the essence of my creative process, turning my art into a dynamic conversation between tradition and modernity.
The Engineer’s Touch:
My background in engineering and technology has also played an important role in shaping my artistic vision. Working in fields like robotics, telecommunications, and hardware development has given me a problem-solving mindset that I incorporate into my creative projects. Whether designing a prototype bass amp or developing a robotic system that learns shape names using Jean Piaget’s theories, I combine technical innovation with artistic expression.
Overcoming Challenges and Embracing Change:
The path to where I am today has not been easy. Moving from Venezuela to Italy and then to the United States meant reinventing myself several times: building new communities, learning new languages, and navigating cultural shifts. As a woman, in music, arts, and technology, I faced unique challenges, but each obstacle became an opportunity to grow and deepen my artistry. I’ve learned to trust the process, embrace change as a tool, and never compromise my multidimensional identity.
What I Want the World to Know:
At the core of my story is the belief that you don’t have to choose between your passions.
My technological development brand, “Cavallone,” embodies this spirit. Derived from my last name, Caraballo—where “Cavallone” suggests power, strength, and robustness, a “Wave crashing against the rocks”—it represents the strong spirit that must remain absolutely positive within you.
One day, I felt very homesick because I hadn’t seen or hugged my parents for seven years. I realized I was automating myself into continuing without stopping until the day I could reunite with them, and that made me feel overwhelmed. Next to my bed, I have several books that are part of my Life soundtrack, as I call memories. And there’s one in particular that reminded me of a story by the author Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. He drew without knowing how to draw and wrote without being a writer because he was advised to do so to feel better. And from him emerged a work full of essence and teachings: The Little Prince. That inspired me to start doodling on a piece of paper, and suddenly, within a few days, I had recreated a world full of colors, laughter, games, and fun stories, making me feel surrounded by company and love. “Los Perinolas” and “Lomuel and the Moon of Cake” were born, the story of my fantastic childhood, making me feel surrounded by willpower and wonderful things.
My great-grandmother lived to be almost 100 years old, and so did my grandmother, Altagracia, and Rosa. They filled me with such exciting and fantastic stories that my childlike mind was creating a wonderful world for all the stories I have written today.
I want to continue giving moments of inspiration to the community around me, and for this reason, my next project is the creation of an Adult Choir, because singing is a medicine that purifies and gives life.
Whether on stage with my bass, composing a new song, collaborating on a technological solution, or directing a play, my mission is to tell stories that connect people from different disciplines and cultures. To inspire people with determination, discipline, love, passion for what they do, and respect for what surrounds them.
In essence, everything I do is a testament to the passion I feel and the dedication to every space where I can contribute my knowledge and my fighting spirit.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to dedicate this shoutout to the incredible people who have shaped my journey. First and foremost, my deepest gratitude to my parents, Rita and Ricardo, whose resilience, strength, and unwavering faith in me have been my constant guide. My siblings, Greg and Nay, have been my most faithful supporters and allies, always believing in me even when the challenges seemed insurmountable. To Carmen Julia Parra and Adriana, who are my sisters for life; without them, it would be impossible to continue writing these lines today. And to the rest of my little family. Without their teachings and love, my achievements, stories, drawings, and melodies wouldn’t exist today.
I am also grateful for the invaluable guidance of my university professors, both in engineering and music, as well as my artistic mentors in Venezuela and Italy. The classrooms of Rafael Belloso Chacín University, the José Luis Paz Conservatory in Maracaibo, and the L. D’Annunzio Conservatory in Pescara, Italy, not only taught me the technical skills I needed in robotics, electronics, and music but also inspired me to find and express my artistic voice, which represents me today.
A special shoutout to the bands that have been the most influential life schools in my career. With Los Gatos Verdes—featuring the talented Mavic Bush on guitar, the fantastic Anel Torres on drums, the wonderful Carmen Julia Parra on percussion, and the incredible Daisy Biscardi on electric violin—I learned the true essence of creative collaboration, the passion for music, and the magic of dedicated composing. Likewise, my experiences with Disco Hits, with the extraordinary Adriana Lorenzi on keyboards and vocals, Mavic Bush on guitars, and Carmen Julia Parra on drums, all grew in my strong roots for the love of music, for continuing to do what I love despite any setback or difficulty.
In Denver, reuniting with my friends and musical “brothers” from the Green Cats Band—Carmen Julia, Alejandro Parra, Adriana Lorenzi, and me—reminded me how music can forge lifelong bonds. Finally, my time with Linger, the Cranberries tribute band, comprised of the talented Mary Kate McNally on lead vocals, acoustic guitar, and trumpet; Adriana Lorenzi on backing vocals, second guitar, and keyboards; the excellent guitarist Alex Parra on lead guitar; and Anthony Hester on drums, has deepened my love for musical exploration. Each of these people and experiences has been instrumental in shaping who I am today, and I am forever grateful for the love, mentorship, and support they have given me.
