Meet Joel Lindeman D.C. | Chiropractor, Entrepreneur and Author

We had the good fortune of connecting with Joel Lindeman D.C. and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Joel, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I had worked for another Chiropractor for 5 years and it was a great experience. I just knew that in order to serve and help people the exact way I wanted to, and as many people as I wanted to, I would need to open my own practice.
Additionally, I recently opened The Birdie Bay-a state of the art indoor golf simulator business. I wanted to open that business because I love indoor golf and I wanted to create a one-of-a kind private “lounge-like” atmosphere where people of all skill levels could play, practice and improve their golf game.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I have been a chiropractor for 21 years. I took a leap of faith in opening my own practice 16 years ago and it wasn’t easy at first. I did have an amazing support system which helped tremendously but opening any business is not for the faint of heart. On the same token, when I look back at how far we come, I can honestly say it wasn’t “hard” because I knew (and still know) that when you authentically care for others and your goal is to serve humanity (which may sound cliche but that is my #1 goal), success follows. The great thing about running your own businesses is that you get to own your successes and your mistakes and you get to figure out how to apply the lessons learned from both. I overcome challenges by hard work, and a firm grasp on my mission in life. I lean on others for support (I am an advocate of counseling-to keep us all sane, there’s a lot of “Schtuff” in everyone’s mind/soul/heart that can be unpacked by speaking with professional guides in those realms) when needed and am a very stubborn optimist. I also think that when it comes to living a “successful” life, the secret sauce is a blend of humility, drive and confidence. I used to think that you couldn’t be humble and confident, but now I know it not only is possible it is necessary to succeed profoundly.
As far as Lindeman Chiropractic: I am most proud of the environment we create. All of our patients are truly treated like family, and the majority of our patients come in because a current or former patient referred them to us. In fact just about 80% of our patients come from other patients rather than from any other form of advertising. I know it is due to the loving atmosphere and genuine care and concern we have for them. Of course, I know the results they achieve play a huge role as well. I love coming to work and I know my amazing team and our patients do as well.
I want the world to know that however you decide to view the world or your “plight” you are 100% correct. Changing your viewpoint is the key to changing your present and future. There are always so many things to be grateful for-be open to finding as many as you can.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
True story-my best friend from North Carolina recently did visit. We met up at The Birdie Bay (my indoor golf sim lounge-shameless plug) to play a round of golf. If we had more time I would definitely have taken him golfing outdoors at Fossil Trace. We would do the Stranahan’s tour complete with a whiskey tasting. We’d sample at least one meal at Mountain Thai and maybe a frosty beverage at 4 Noses Brewery. We’d take a drive up Boulder Canyon and a mid-day hike or maybe even head down south to Daniel’s Park for a hike as well. If we had more time, we’d head up to Breckenridge to enjoy the town and some biking/hiking up there.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I truly am the luckiest man in the world and I have so many people to thank for helping shape and support me throughout my life. My amazing wife, Sheri has always had even more belief in me than I’ve had in myself. I also have an amazing mother and father (Paula and Bob) 2 wonderful sisters (Robin and Karin) and a brother who happens to be my best friend as well (Tony). I have two inspiringly-awesome sons Payton and Isaac. I have countless friends who have always supported me and continue to do so-as the saying goes “iron sharpens iron” and I know my soul would not be as lit up as it is without them. I am blessed with a world-class office team at Lindeman Chiropractic (Jessica, Anna and Emily). I truly believe many of our patients come in just to see them because they are beacons of hope and sunshine and people feel better the minute they walk in our doors.
