Meet Dr. Courtney Lynn | Licensed Psychologist and Business Owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Courtney Lynn and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dr. Lynn, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
When I reflect on what truly helped me succeed, it boils down to a combination of intentional personal habits that support my well-being and consistent professional practices that foster growth and connection.
On the personal side, prioritizing my mental and physical health is non-negotiable. Meditation is a cornerstone of my daily routine; even just 10-15 minutes helps me cultivate focus, reduce stress, and approach challenges with a clearer mind. It’s my anchor in a demanding profession. Closely tied to this is sleep. My graduate school mentor once remarked that she’d never seen another student with such a regimented sleep schedule, and she felt it was key to my success and ability to achieve goals efficiently. Ensuring I get consistent, quality rest allows me to be present, creative, and effective for both my clients and my team. Finally, going for walks is my simple, yet profound, act of self-care. Whether it’s a brisk walk to clear my head or a slower stroll to connect with nature, it’s invaluable for breaking up my day, boosting my mood, and sparking new ideas. These aren’t just “nice-to-haves”; they’re absolutely fundamental to my capacity to show up fully.
Professionally, my success is deeply intertwined with continuous learning and relationship building. A habit I swear by is sending 3-5 personalized emails each week to connect with other professionals. These aren’t cold calls; they’re genuine outreaches to colleagues in psychology or those in complementary fields like physical therapy, education, or nutrition. The goal is simply to connect, share insights, learn from their experiences, or explore potential collaborations. This consistent effort has not only broadened my knowledge base but has also built an invaluable network of support and partnership, which is crucial for a thriving practice like Integrated Behavioral Health.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Our Story: Integrated Behavioral Health
At Integrated Behavioral Health, our core mission genuinely revolves around the family. As a psychology private practice, we work with children, teens, parents, couples, and entire family units, always keeping their unique dynamics and needs at the heart of everything we do. We offer a comprehensive range of services, including therapy and neuropsychological evaluations for concerns like Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, learning disorders, and various social-emotional challenges.
What truly sets us apart are two fundamental commitments:
First, our unwavering dedication to centering the entire family. We believe that effectively supporting a child or teen means nurturing the whole system around them. It’s common for our practice to have one psychologist working individually with a child while another provides parallel support to the parents or even the couple. This integrated approach ensures every family member feels empowered, heard, and supported on their journey. We’re not just treating an individual; we’re nurturing the entire family unit.
Second, we place immense value on community partnerships. We consistently collaborate with pediatricians, teachers, and other professionals involved in a child’s care to ensure a holistic, coordinated approach. Beyond individual therapy, we actively seek opportunities to partner with various community organizations. This allows us to provide valuable workshops, talks, and support groups on a range of topics directly to parents in diverse settings. We understand that not every family needs or wants weekly therapy appointments, but many are open to engaging with psychoeducational workshops or support groups. Our aim is always to meet families where they are, offering support in accessible and relevant ways.
The journey to establish Integrated Behavioral Health wasn’t always smooth; it involved many mistakes and invaluable learning opportunities. Having previously worked at Children’s Hospital Colorado, I was completely unfamiliar with starting or running a thriving private practice when I decided to make the leap. Everything from obtaining an Employer Identification Number (EIN) to “balancing the books” was new territory. Without a degree in accounting, marketing, or business management, it felt like I was faced with a steep learning curve every single day.
However, I stayed deeply committed to the process. I overcame these challenges through sheer perseverance and an unwavering belief in our model. I actively sought mentorship, learned to pivot when necessary, and consistently reinforced our core values in every decision. The lessons learned along the way have been invaluable:
Authenticity is magnetic: Our commitment to family-centered care and community engagement isn’t just a marketing slogan; it’s genuinely who we are. This authenticity truly resonates with families and partners alike.
Relationships are everything: From our incredible internal team to our external collaborators, strong, trusting relationships have been the bedrock of our growth.
Flexibility is key: The world of mental health support is constantly evolving, and being able to adapt our services and outreach to meet changing needs has been vital.
Meet people where they are: Recognizing that therapy isn’t a one-size-fits-all solution and offering diverse avenues for support has been crucial to expanding our reach and impact.
What we want the world to know about Integrated Behavioral Health is that we are more than just a therapy practice. We are a dedicated partner in your family’s well-being. We believe in strengthening entire family systems, building bridges within the community, and empowering parents and children with the tools they need to thrive. Our story is one of passion, collaboration, and an unwavering commitment to nurturing healthier, happier families.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend were visiting Denver, I’d want to show her what I love most about living here: that incredible balance between vibrant city life and breathtaking mountain escapes.
Our adventure would definitely include a Colorado Rockies game at Coors Field, ideally on an evening with fireworks – there’s nothing quite like it! For dining, Just BE Kitchen is my absolute favorite restaurant; as someone with celiac disease, their consistently high-quality, gluten-free food is a must-have.
Of course, a hike is essential for visitors. One of my top picks is Herman Gulch Trail in Arapahoe National Forest. It’s not too far from the city, and the stunning alpine lake at the top makes the trek incredibly rewarding. In my view, the most fun, interesting, and exciting parts of Denver are truly that unique blend of urban energy and wild natural beauty, all wrapped up in a friendly, outdoor-loving culture. It’s about experiencing the best of both worlds!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I owe so much of my success, and truly, who I am today, to my dear friend, Lorraine. I met Lorraine when I was in graduate school, navigating my early twenties and just learning the ropes of independence. She, meanwhile, was 72 years old. I often joke that we’ve talked on the phone 6.5 days a week since the day we met, and it’s absolutely true!
Lorraine has been my unwavering companion on this wild journey we call life. Through all the ups and downs, she has consistently been by my side. She’s now 83 years old, and despite me having moved several times and living in a different time zone, we still find time to connect each and every day. She’s not just an incredible cheerleader in my life; she’s also the one who always reminds me to “wear life like a loose garment” – a powerful philosophy that has brought me so much peace and perspective. Lorraine truly deserves immense credit and recognition in my story.
