We had the good fortune of connecting with Megan Schobert and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Megan, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Honestly, the most important factor behind Schotime’s success is the community we’ve built. From the start, we knew we wanted to create more than just a place where kids come to dance. We wanted it to feel like a second home- especially in a world that can sometimes feel disconnected, where people are really craving community. A place where every dancer, every family, every staff member feels seen, supported, and excited to be there. We put a huge focus on connection, clear communication, and creating experiences that are both high quality and full of heart. That mix of professionalism and warmth is what makes Schotime feel different, and I think that’s why families stay, tell their friends, and keep showing up with such enthusiasm. The people are the reason we’ve grown so quickly! And they’re the reason we keep raising the bar.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Schotime Dance Center is a place where kids don’t just learn to dance. They grow in confidence, character, and connection. We opened in Castle Rock in November 2022 with a big dream and a lot of heart, and in just a short time, we’ve built something really special. What sets us apart is the energy and care we pour into everything. From the quality of our instruction to the way we greet every dancer by name, it’s a place where kids feel safe to be themselves, push their limits, and have a ton of fun along the way.

I’m especially proud of how quickly we’ve grown while staying true to our values. We’re not trying to be just another dance studio. We’re here to raise the bar on what a studio experience can feel like. Bold, colorful, professional, and deeply rooted in community.

Getting here wasn’t easy. Like most entrepreneurs, we started with a vision and had to figure out the rest as we went. There were late nights, moments of self-doubt, and a lot of learning on the fly. We opened just as the world was still recovering from a tough time for small businesses. I was five months pregnant with a toddler at home, and my husband was finishing his NFL career in a different state! It was a wild season of life, and it took every ounce of focus and commitment we had.

We sacrificed a lot to build this. Time, energy, money, sleep. There were moments where the easy thing would have been to step back, but we kept showing up. We protected our vision even when it wasn’t convenient. We made hard decisions because we believed in what we were creating. And that’s exactly why it works. Every inch of this studio was built with purpose and grit.

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that you do not need to have everything figured out to start. But you do need to lead with clarity, courage, and consistency. You have to be willing to grow, adjust, and stay rooted in your purpose.

If there’s one thing I want people to know about Schotime, it’s that we are building more than a dance studio. We are building something joyful, empowering, and lasting. A place where kids learn they are capable, strong, and supported. That is what drives everything we do.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was visiting Castle Rock for the week, we’d definitely make the most of it! I’d kick things off with lunch at Castle Rock Café. Their fried chicken is so good, and it just feels like the perfect local spot to settle in and catch up! One of the best parts about living here is the access to the outdoors, so I’d plan a hike to Devil’s Head. It’s one of my favorite trails because the views are amazing, and it’s doable even if you’re not totally acclimated to the altitude.

After working up an appetite, we’d head to dinner at Los Dos for some seriously delicious Mexican food and margaritas. And to finish off the night, we’d swing by adult hip-hop class at Schotime, of course. It’s high energy, full of laughs, and such a fun way to dance off dinner while feeling like your coolest self.

Throughout the week, I’d make sure we spent time walking downtown, checking out the shops and local events, maybe grabbing coffee at Oo de Lally or dessert at Glacier Ice Cream. And if the timing lined up, I’d take them to one of the Castle Rock summer concerts or festivals because this town knows how to throw a good community event.

Castle Rock is such a gem, a perfect mix of small-town charm and exciting things to do. You really can have the best time without ever needing to leave town.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are so many people I could shout out (it really does take a village) but if I had to choose just one group, it would be my family. My husband Joe has been my biggest supporter, teammate, and sounding board since day one. We dreamed up Schotime together, and he runs it right along with me. His belief in me and his ability to jump into a completely different world from his NFL background and make it feel like home for others is incredible.

I have add the biggest shout out the amazing teachers and staff who have believed in our vision and poured so much of their heart into this place. Schotime wouldn’t be what it is without their energy, creativity, and care for our dancers. Our teachers go above and beyond making their classes welcoming and well run. We’ve seen absolutely incredible improvement of our dancers thanks to their carefully thought out classes.

And lastly, I want to shout out my mentor, Kate Moody. owner of Liberty Dance Center. I grew up dancing at her studio in Wisconsin, and I learned so much just by watching the way she ran her business and built her community. She’s a fantastic business owner and leader, and I still find myself asking, “What would Kate do?” almost every single day. Her influence continues to shape the way I lead Schotime.
