Meet Brooke Page-Thompson | Yoga Studio Owner & Leadership Coach

We had the good fortune of connecting with Brooke Page-Thompson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brooke, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Being authentic to who I am and surrounding myself with people that can help me get better! Buka Yoga is known in our communities as a safe and welcoming space…where anyone is invited to come and practice with us…with the intention that we all respect and honor the space together. The success of my brand as the owner is different than the success of the brand itself. My goal was that our students and community interactions didn’t necessarily know Buka Yoga as the place Brooke owns, but the place you go if you want community, connection to others and a safe place to regulate the nervous system. That is what Buka Yoga is all about. My brand as the owner is a little different, because my role as the owner has taken new shapes over the years. As we get more established and grounded in our communities, my role is to be the steward of the brand…making sure it’s honored and upheld and holding myself and teachers accountable for how we hold space and share space with our students and each other.
Being authentic is something people want to see in a brand. It doesn’t waiver or falter when times get hard. It stands for something bigger than the person behind it and is something that evokes a sense of community and joy when people see or hear it. The brand is all about the people within our spaces and attracting that energy just makes the success of the brand grow and grow. Now that we’re expanding with the ONE Yoga team in Denver, our brand will take a new shape and form in the Tech Center. It will be rooted in the same principles and community focused concepts and it will challenge us to think about the work we do differently because our community is expanding and growing in new and exciting ways. Great brands evolve over time, but never loose site of who they are at their core. And at our core, we are all about sharing space and welcoming every body into our doors that feels inspired to join us.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I have been honored to run a few businesses…and seeing the intersection of the two very different aspects of the world has brought me such joy. I am the owner and founder of Buka Yoga in Castle Rock AND the Denver Tech Center (we just merged ONE yoga into our family!) and the president and co-owner of Velocity Advisory Group…a leadership development and coaching organization. I have amazing teachers, amazing employees and amazing partners in all of this.
At Buka Yoga…what sets us apart is that we love our community…and that is first and foremost for us. Our spaces are welcoming of all bodies, all humans and all hearts. We’ve been honored to survive the pandemic and come out on the other side thriving…because of our community. We teach from the heart…leaning into what our students are experiencing day in and day out…because we are all connected in this journey of the soul. We’ve won Best of the Best Castle Rock the last 3 years…and I’m just so so so proud of all we do as a community of aspiring humans.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If I had a friend coming to visit…we would do a lot of different things! First, I would have them come in the summer and grab an AirbNb over by Evergreen and go do yoga on the rocks. We’d stay there a night or two and explore Keystone hiking trails and Idaho Springs. Then we’d come back to Castle Rock and do a few. Yoga classes at Buka Yoga, attempt the incline, the labyrinth south of town, go get some custom jewelry at Goldie Links, shop at Mod Mountain Boutique, eat at all the new places in downtown Castle Rock and maybe take in some breathtaking hikes each morning. There are so many lovely things to do in Colorado..and Castle Rock just has a few hidden gems…

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are many to credit this shoutout to…my parents for believing in me and pushing me to try that thing, even if it’s scary or costs money…to my husband who dreams big and challenges me to do the same…to my studio managers Courtney and Kerrie…who protect my time and energy fiercely so that I can do all the things…to Danny Chapparo for entrusting me with our first studio opportunity in 2019 and Karey Goebel for teaching me and nurturing me to the point I could step in and help take ONE to it’s new chapter in 2025. To my teachers who love and protect our community with all their hearts…to the clients I have at my full time job that embrace my love of Yoga and Mindfulness and allow me space to share glimmers with others. To my partners at Velocity Advisory Group for entrusting me with that business and our clients success…and my whole team at Velocity that just do great things. When I really look at the ecosystem that surrounds me, I am truly at awe in how the universe designed a life for me that is truly amazing. It was also through my own hard work to trust and step into the opportunities…but once I took the step, there was always a ecosystem there ready to support where we were going next.
