We had the good fortune of connecting with Recet and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Recet, why did you pursue a creative career?
Music has unquestionably been my life passion since I was 10 years old. Since that realization, a route towards a different career has never been a consideration of mine. It’s all or nothing for me, and nothing is not an option – it has to work.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Recet is a way of expressing humanity through my life experiences. As someone who is rooted deeply and highly inspired by live instrumental performance, I have embarked on a musical journey to help set a positive example and be a voice for other musicians like myself who have seen a significantly diminished existence of instrumental performance from music as a whole. A Recet performance is one unlike any you’ve seen before – I accompany a full band of extremely talented musicians who emulate programmed rhythms and melodies on live instruments (even the complicated rhythms in my music with trap drums). Additionally, a performance of mine is also about personality and interactiveness. I strongly believe in putting in the work and demonstrating skill when applicable, and I equally believe in inspiring others that they can reach their unlimited potential. I am very excited to demonstrate these performance ideas live with a full band. I’ve taken music seriously for a long time, so there isn’t exactly a definitive way to discern where the ‘professional’ aspect started. Instrumentally, a lot of things come naturally to me because I have been doing them for a while. However, the business side is relatively new to me, and I am learning lots about these aspects every day. One of the biggest challenges for me was getting out of my comfort zone and releasing songs regardless of what I felt other people would think. Once I got over that hurdle, it’s been a matter of how I can diversify my time and resources to get as many eyes and ears on my art as possible, and how can I continually release consistently. I feel good about the place I am in now because I can see, hear, and feel the progress I’ve been striving for, and I am continuously striving for my next goals.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would say some of the best restaurants I have ever eaten at in Denver are Outpost Eatery in Lone Tree (Fabian is the man), Fat Sully’s Pizza in Denver, and Shanahan’s in DTC. In my opinion, one of the best hikes/explorations you can do in Colorado is at Castlewood Canyon. And of course, you’ve gotta hit Voodoo Doughnuts.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First thing’s first; my Mom and my Dad. I love both of them very much, and they have helped me in every step of my life (and that’s a big understatement) – My sister, Wit Blu – My friends, especially my entrepreneurial ones; Wavesy, PrayTheorem, kceast, Holt Stairs, Elijah, Rachel, Ty, Dylan, Jake, Mitch, and Kellen – Some of my Teachers/Mentors; Martin Martinez, Orlando Otis, Jared Arenholz, Samuel Knights, Mike Marlier, Jacob Crabb, Michael Schulze, Rachel Lim, Rick Henson, Jeff Rodgers, Kevin Lehman, Dave Elitch, Chris Coleman, and Stanton Moore – And many many many more!
