Meet Elyssa Monet: Creative Solopreneur & Wellness Advocate

We had the good fortune of connecting with Elyssa Monet and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Elyssa, can you share the most important lesson you’ve learned over the course of your career?
The most important lesson I’ve learned in both my career path, and starting my own business; is that no one has it all figured out. When we look at other people’s success, we forget about all the trial and tribulations that helped them get there. That at one point they also had no idea of what they were doing. It’s okay to not know. There may be times where I have one thing nailed down — like marketing, and times where I know nothing — like funding. It’s also important to have a team, or a community or a network to lean on. As I mentioned, no ONE has it all figured out but we can all make contributions for the things that we DO know. 

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
When it comes to work, and life, I am most proud of my ability to pivot. As we get older, we realize things don’t work out as planned and in those moments we have the opportunity to learn, to adapt, to change. When I first moved to Colorado, I was dealt with a lot of plans falling through, and in the midst of that struggle I made a complete career change, started my own business and learned how to be completely independent. Was it easy? No. But it was worth it. I can’t imagine who or where I’d be without the cards I was dealt.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
When my friends visit, our day will mostly look like this: On a weekday (before the pandemic), we’d take an early yoga class at Rooted Heart and have toast and tea at The Corner Beet. Then head to Improper city to get some work done — stick around for happy hour and head to Dio Mio for dinner. On a weekend (agan, before the pandemic), we’d have brunch at The Universal, do some kind of cute leisurely thing whether that be visiting the MCA, going on a hike, or any kind of pop-up or event (ie: Night Market Denver), followed by dinner hopping between conceptual food halls (Denver Central Market, Broadway Market, Milk Market, etc). We’d end the night at Meadowlark Bar, 715 or Fort Greene.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to give a huge shoutout to all of the creative solopreneurs, artists, advocates, and leaders I’ve crossed paths with. Whether our interaction was a small one or a grand one — you’ve all left a print in my path that I will remember forever.
