We had the good fortune of connecting with Mike Weisberg and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mike, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
OMG was something I always wanted to do as I worked in shops all my life and knew there was a certain way I wanted to do things.
What should our readers know about your business?
We are a person first type of outdoor business. We dont care if you are brand new to an activity or a seasoned expert. To us you are a friend / family. The ego stays at the door so to speak, this is really hard in the outdoor industry, especially in CO. We got to this spot by putting the customer first. We are here for them and by them. We cant do it without our customers. We love to kick back and hang out with customers and treat them as family. As a one stop backcountry/MTB shop we want to hear about your adventures, get you the right gear for your missions and keep your gear in tip top shape. We have been doing this at various shops for over 20 years. It’s not easy, it is just our nature to be the way we are. We overcame challenges by saying enough was enough by our former shops, its time to make the shop that we want and to throw the egos out the door. We have learned to adapt with the times for business. Some people want to never leave their homes for shopping and others never want to leave your store 😜 (we love that). We want people to know that we are a one stop shop for Bikes, Backcountry, SUP, Service, and a home away from home where you are welcome to tell us your adventures.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well AM starts at Bivouac Coffee, morning/early afternoon is shredding on a bike, SUP, or backcountry and the evenings are spent in 1 of 3 places. Revival Brews, Snowpack Taproom, or Baitshack Tavern across the street from us (in no particular order, depending on beers on tap all the food is great) Finally, chill the fire outside one of our homes, that is a year round thing!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have a lot of people in my life that fit into these categories. People always come into your life for certain reasons. My business partner, Luis, saw the opportunity to make a dream a reality and was the final push to get our business going so I certainly need to shout out to him. For a company, I gotta shout out to our friends over at Bivouac Coffee. Rene has been on the mission of outreach and has been a driving force in the community and that is awesome to have a friend like that.
