We had the good fortune of connecting with Jenna A. Rice and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jenna A., is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Building lasting relationships with my clients and colleagues, as well as always striving to better myself as a photographer.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
One of the lessons I’ve learned along the way is to not be afraid to put yourself out there. I used to hold myself back, thinking that my art needed to be “perfect” before I put it out into the world for others to see. I can see now that the fastest way to improve your work is to put it out into the world and get feedback on it – that’s how we keep growing, evolving and improving our work. I now realize that you never arrive at “perfect”,  instead it is something that we keep striving for, that striving is what makes one constantly get better at their craft.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take them for a hike in Eldorado Canyon State Park, one of my favorite places in the world. Then I would take them to eat at Linger or Ace Eat Serve, two of my favorite restaurants in Denver and give them a tour of all the cool graffiti art in Rino and Five Points. If there were shows going on at Red Rocks, we would definitely have to go to a show there. Then drive up to Rocky Mountain National Park and show them the stunning views from the highest paved road in North America. If we had time, we would also hit up some hot springs. Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Shout out to Diana Sher (poet), Carl Bower (photographer), Traven Rice (filmmaker), Susanna Mitchell (visual artist), PlatteForum (artist in residence), Femfatalitas (female filmmakers), and all those who have inspired or encouraged me artistically along the way.
