Meet Cross Rivera | Owner & Artist at 80 Generations LLC

We had the good fortune of connecting with Cross Rivera and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cross, what are you inspired by?
My inspiration comes from many different places. My top of the list are my kids, they move me to take action of my ideas. My thought process is, if I can get famous enough, they will have a legacy left behind for them to capitalize on.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art is a combination of graphic design and music production. I personally design everything that comes out of 80 Generations. Every flyer, commercial, music video, brochure or general promotion comes directly from me and this crazy mind of mine. What really sets my look and products apart from others are the concepts and designs I come up with for our look and our clothing and merchandise. Another thing is my process. I use multiple layers, a lot in 3D and a combination of 3-4 programs working all at once to come up with and design most of my art pieces. Right now my music has been a larger focus. New songs, albums and mixtapes are in the works, along with the steady promotion of our number 1 hit song with DMX called “Get It” which has seen over 303,000 streams. Today I feel I am closer to success than I’ve ever been. I owe a lot of my success to the determination and persistence of Shawan Na, my wife and partner. She has been my rock and strength through this new stage of my life. It hasn’t been an easy journey. I have to had overcome rumors about my personal life, I’ve had to jump over some huge obstacles and challenges by simply relying on God and putting things in His hands. Throughout my career and journey though, I have really learned that trust is something you cannot take for granted. I have also learned that you don’t really gain friends in the industry you gain connections, and it is through those connections that you find comradery. My story has many ups and downs, and as a young black and puerto rican man I feel that I have such a wonderful and inspiring story to tell the world. How a young kid from Detroit came from being homeless and living in a truck, to recording with multi-platinum artist like DMX and soon Rick Ross.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend or brother was coming to visit here’s how the trip would be. First I’d take him to my favorite dispensary, the Native Roots Dispensary in Longmont. They truly care and have the best deals and service. After that I would book a game of golf at the Top Golf place in Broomfield. While waiting for golf I would show them around my studio and where I record most of my songs. We would then make a side trip to cruise around Englewood where I was raised for the adult have of my life. To end the week we would go hiking to Flagstaff Mountain and end with a trip to the Speakeasy and the Dickens Opera House for a show.
