We had the good fortune of connecting with Zach Cardenas and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Zach, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I was at a crossroads in my life and could either keep working warehouse jobs or take a chance on myself. I went to school and that was the start of a new path. I learned so much on how to create something from scratch. It has been a long path but now I have the knowledge and skills to not only book clients but also create photos and videos for my own music career as well.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
The biggest lesson I have learned as an independent artist and business is to not base your own success off of other people around you. You have to learn to compete with your past self instead of others. My biggest challenge has been being a single father of 2 and also trying to have a music and business career. Finding balance between all three has been very difficult at times. Hard work and consistency has lead me to where I am at today. The will to never give up and continue to grow and learn. I make music that I truly enjoy and want the world to know I am very different then the typical artists you see. I raise 2 kids on my own, not really into fancy things and would prefer long studio sessions over the party scene. I am a humble person who roots for any artist to gain the success they seek.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take them to some of my favorite places starting with The Original Chubby’s. Then maybe if it is summer to Eliches or water world. In the winter definitely skiing or boarding at winter park. A broncos game or a Nuggets Lakers game at Ball arena. A walk on the 16 street mall and of course my home studio.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would have to say my older cousins who brought me in at a young age and helped me develop confidence and social skills by doing live performances and being put into situations from 18 years old to follow my passion. Without them I may have never had the confidence to break free from the typical 9-5 lifestyle.
