Meet Heather Mallander | Artist & Jewelry Designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Heather Mallander and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Heather, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
The idea and creation of my business Crystalline Nectar is a synergy of my experiences as a human being. It is a melding of skill, synchronicity, courage and awareness.
I was born with the instinct to love the Earth, and all it’s creatures. Ever since I could walk I have ran around picking up stones and rocks. I was drawn to their beauty and their direct embodiment of the earth’s magical forces. Each stone had a story and a connection to a moment.
Twenty years ago I immersed myself in research to learn the healing powers and properties of these gemstones and minerals. As I continued to evolve and grow, I attuned to the energy, wisdom and power gemstones and minerals embodied. As a Healer, I am offering this knowledge in physical manifestation of a Crystalline Mala. As an artist I elevate the Shakti (Energy) of the stones through design, and color theory.
In 2014 I found my tribe, my community after many years of searching. A surge of creativity and serendipity brought me to create my first mala. I gifted my first creations to my tribe. Elation! The Crystalline Malas were received with so much love and gratitude that it made my heart glow and affirmed I was walking my path. My tribe encouraged me to continue and share these gifts with the world.
And as life does, it challenged me. My Mother ended her 24 year battle with breast cancer in 2015. I was blessed to help her transition into the spirit world. During this turbulent time, creating malas to help myself and others, became a way for me to be of service. This is where the blending, of healing and art began. I created several different Crystalline Mala Creations to alleviate my mother’s pain, symptoms and to help her spirit cross over.
We are Children of the Earth, and the Earth loves us and wants us to be vibrant and healthy; open up your life to her.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
We are here to experience and live. Art is life to me, 2nd to nature.
I have always been an artist. My first medium was crayons. I’m happiest when I am creating. I believe it’s important to prioritize what you want your life to look like. How will you spend your time? Our time is so limited here, so precious.
Creation comes in many forms. I have been called to walk this path of an artist.
What was your thought process behind starting your own business?

I am inspired by nature first and foremost. I feel most happy and at peace in nature, because we are nature.
I look to nature and I am inspired. Inspiration could be in the light, the growth cycle of a particular plant, the behavior and myths of animals, the colors and energy of the seasons.
I am curious about the human journey with its; struggles, joys, desires and needs.
Ultimately I want to help heal and honor the Earth and its creatures.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I am really in love with nature, so anywhere outside is perfect. I love adventures! I was born and raised in Colorado, so I enjoy showing my best friends the beauty. We would visit some hot springs. Go on a hike in the Indian Peaks Wilderness. Eat at restaurants that source local ingredients. But I mostly eat at home, because there’s nothing like a home cooked meal. Tea is a favorite drink, so the Boulder Tea House is on the itinerary; it is always a delightful experience. We would use binoculars to look at birds of prey in the sunshine and planets and stars in the night. I like to mingle with authentic people, so we could walk local trails and go to ecstatic dance to find some humans to hang out with. Camping would be a must, sleeping on the earth is so grounding and healing. Fresh air and clean water, that’s what I’m all about.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
