We had the good fortune of connecting with Vivian McCormick and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Vivian, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
A big part of my success is the constant pursuit of the success itself. I’ve had real discouraging times in the last 5 years but I’ve always pushed through with keeping my goal in mind. While everyone else has been traveling and getting to do the normals thing people in their 20s do, I have been nose down focused on my career. We all have a path and I just knew a business is what I wanted.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Being a holistic esthetician has not been easy. Anytime you do something outside of what’s considered “normal” sets you up for scrutiny. I’m extremely proud of my training and education in things like restructural work for the face and jaw, lymphatic drainage, etc. I can make someone look good, feel good and do it all naturally. In the world of beauty what I do is looked down on because it is “slow beauty”. In a world of “I want it now” slow practices may not be for everyone but I can 100% assure you it will give you the long term results your skin and body need. Every single day I have to continue to put on my shield of armor and continue to be who I am and do what I know is true. If I could tell any individual starting out with their passion is to remember no one owes you anything, acceptance isn’t found amongst others it’s found within you. Without knowing that you’ll never stay truly successful. People are flakey but don’t be flakey to yourself.
Also I think it’s important to strive for healthy success. When I pray to God I always ask for him to only bring me to a place when I’m ready. Fast success comes easy for some people but the only way to have healthy success is to achieve it as you grown and learn, otherwise you’re miserable and of no good use.
Learning these types of lessons at a young age have come from a lot of hardships but it’s prepared me for what I do today.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
The whole town of Durango itself is a site to see. I mean we’re pretty special to be living in a tiny city in the middle of the Rocky Mountains! I’d say places like James ranch and Ernies where you can see the true character of Durango and the people. The people is what makes us the best!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My parents hands down from the time I was a child have always given me the space to decide who I wanted to be while also giving real life guidance. They shared every aspect of life including things like taxes or even how to persevere through difficult times. Encouragement but honesty helped me grow humbly. Their approach to parenting was unconventional to most, they literally took us everywhere, but it was the true love and direction children need.
