We had the good fortune of connecting with Liseli Thiele and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Liseli, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind the success of Own The Throne Management/Movement is Integrity. With such a bold name, the lifestyle and the morals and values all have to align. Working in Hollywood for most of my early career, and having my own production company, made me realize that many professionals out there walk a fine line and often sell themselves to people and situations to advance, taking a short cut to success. I found this out the hard way, when I found myself surrounded by people filled with motives and willing to do whatever they needed to do even if it meant betraying themselves and others.

I was working long hours as an assistant to a very important Hollywood Producer, and lost myself in the entire process. It was horrible. My life became a complete nightmare. I couldn’t enjoy the everyday tasks anymore and my health started suffering. I lost myself and I couldn’t find my way back. I decided to start finding old chairs on craigslist, so that I can reupholster them and paint them into modern day, artsy “thrones”. I figured I could escape the reality of my current situation, and turn inward to tap into my creative self.

I have always been an entrepreneur. I saw the potential in actually making this outlet into a business, but then I hit a brick wall, when I started brainstorming branding, logos and getting on the web. I knew nothing about coding, and it was too expensive to even consider hiring a web designer. I felt stuck. I had all these amazing ideas, and could see the vision, but I didn’t know how I was going to put it all out there.

I ended up leaving Hollywood, quitting that job, and decided to take a few months to get myself healthy again. I took a little trip to Miami, FL, to stay with my parents. During these months, I challenged myself and set my mind to learning, Squarespace and Wix. I can’t tell you how many hours I sat on my computer, building and dismantling templates. It wasn’t until I decided that the Thrones would have to take a back seat so that I could actually master the platforms and the growing business of social media marketing and web design.

I created simple pages but I was having a difficult time trying to figure out how to present it all. I decided to head back to Los Angeles. I needed to reinvent myself. This time I found myself taking meetings with well known photographers, and using the little knowledge I had to help them get out there with a redesign in their brand and internet presence. It was then I realized that it was never about the chairs, and that in fact it was about the Thrones. Own The Throne ended up evolving into a service that I would provide to individuals that had great vision but didn’t have quite the budget to work with design agencies. It would also allow the person to hold all of the cards and not have to give any away in order to be in the spotlight. It was about never having anyone hold the power to take it all away.

I began finding artists, talent and small business owners that I would revamp and build a platform for them in order to succeed. Many of them I did without ever charging. Bartering would be more enticing. Money isn’t everything, and trying to turn that Hollywood slogan “It’s who you know” into a myth, It became my mission to plant as many seeds in the world to help people grow.

Integrity is the most important factor. Being an honest person and having no motives is imperative when it comes to Owning The Throne. Finding people that you can trust and build with can be quite difficult. Once you find them though it’s Game On. And one of the most rewarding feelings in the world is sitting back and witnessing people flourish and be the best version of themselves.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Art. For me the ability to tap into other people’s mind and vision and explore their life path is definitely an art. Back in 1999, I lost my husband due to a tragic suicide. I was in my last year of film school. This didn’t allow me to finish. Writing, Acting, Producing and Directing was my passion, and since I had to now focus on making a living for myself and my six year old son, I had to put that dream on hold.

I later found myself tuning into the music of Third Eye Blind, since my husband loved the band. And after several years, a long list of shows I realized that this discography was the Soundtrack to My Life. I made it into an art in 2016, when I tapped into an internet fan group for the band, and realized that I wasn’t the only one that felt that these albums and songs were for me. So I created a group called, 3EB Lifestyle, and this has been one of my greatest milestones. With about 53 fans and the band I was able to create an Editorial Blog to showcase stories, art, ink and photography about the fans and their love for each other and the band members, especially Stephan Jenkins, the lyrical wordsmith. I had so much fun going on the road.

The moments and the interactions served as a healing platform for not just myself but for many others that thought their story would go untold. I ended up putting out a 420 page Coffee Table Book of the entire journey filled with photos, art, handwritten lyrics and stories, called Walk Like Kings/ Tropic Scorpio. I will be doing a re-release of the book on my site later this spring.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

Guessing I am picking them up from Denver International Airport, I would make a stop at La Chiva, on Broadway. They serve Colombian food and the best I have had. My family is from Colombia and it’s as close as home gets.

Then I would head to home, in Lo Hi, and meet up with my Boys that own Comma Cafe, a cool spot with dj’s and dancing and vibes for days. The following day, definitely hit up a hike, the Mesa Trail and Shadow Canyon in Boulder are top on my list. I would also head to Red Rocks as well. If they are lucky they would also have the best Pizza on Wednesday. My boy Dino owns The Wells Pizza here in Lo Hi. On the weekend I would check out the Zodiac House, owned by Gabe. It’s a private community and definitely an experience. A Nuggets or Avs Game is also on the list.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
It’s never about me. If it wasn’t for all those individuals that actually put their most vulnerable part in front of me and trusted in the process, I wouldn’t be who I was today. So with that said. All the past bosses that were hard on me definitely get a shoutout. Stephen Levinson, the executive producer of Entourage, and Boardwalk Empire, and Mark Wahlberg’s business partner, definity had an impact on my life, and if it wasn’t for the opportunity to run alongside of him, I probably would have never owned my own throne.

My current denver family, Timothy Floresfrom BADSEEDGEAR.COM for giving me a great challenge in creating an amazing lifestyle brand and site. Tim also has been a great investor in Own The Throne, and has supported me as a female entrepreneur by allowing me to focus on this and not sell myself short with working just any job. He also goes to every event to support my clients and has hired them for his own events providing them with money to do what they do best.

Mozes The Poet and Andy of MOTHATUNG, a badass band from Denver. They helped me prove that this service actually works and empowers musicians and artists. Bobby Love and Robbie Carter with Syng Studios who came to me and hung on my every word when it came to instruction with brainstorming their service and Brand. For Michael Lowrie of Luxury Leather Restorations for actually paying me for my services so that I can help others that do not have a budget. He has been really generous and also empowering me with what my skills and talents are.

The one person I am super grateful for is Stephan Jenkins from Third Eye Blind. He highlighted how talented and creative of a person I was, when dealing with Collaborative projects, editorial and designing and even coining phrases such as MAD BLIND LOVE, which later made its way on to his Tour Merchandise. He gave me the thumbs up when I doubted myself the most, and he made me realize that all it takes is persistence and drive and a true heart to get to where you want.
