We had the good fortune of connecting with David Delcourt and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi David, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I’ve always wanted to have a direct impact on my customers and community. As Chief of Flavor at Seed Ranch, I love seeing people’s eyes go wide and taste buds dance when they take a bite. The “wow, that’s delicious” or “dang that’s good” is so rewarding. When I started Seed Ranch, I wanted to bring the culinary experience into people’s kitchens, from farm, to our kitchen, to their table – making a flavor adventure that’s unique to each person’s taste and spice preferences, yet globally delightful.

What should our readers know about your business?
At Seed Ranch we believe we can change the world by changing the way it tastes. We create the world’s most delicious, delightful plant-based sauces, seasonings, and vegan cheeses, from seed, to bottle, to bag, all made from clean ingredients. From our humble roots of creating sauces from peppers grown on our front porch, we’ve steadily grown from the early days at farmer’s markets, to the shelves of Whole Foods. We’ve built a loyal, hungry customer community, been featured on Hot Ones and the Tonight Show. We are masters of the art and science of flavor shaping the future of food by supporting: people, planet, and plants.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
What’s not to love about Boulder and greater Denver? I’d say starting out with an oat milk latte at Boxcar Coffee gives the jumpstart to my day. Hopping on the Roayl Arch trailhead at Chattaqua will get your blood moving (and the view at the top is worth the walk). Wander downtown to the Boulder Bookstore to browse the used book section that smells of well worn pages and always delivers a great read. For delicious, casual lunches hit up Illegal Pete’s for a burrito or Meta Burger for the best vegan buffalo chicken sandwich that fools even my most carnivorous friends. If the weather is nice, head over to Sanitas Brewing company and grab a perfect brew on their huge patio, overlooking the flatirons, while munching chips, salsa, and tacos from McDevitt Taco’s onsite. And finish the evening off at Kitchen Upstairs for a lounging cocktail and bites, or wander to the Laughing Goat for live local music. Roaming into the mountains, Brainard Lake is a great spot for short or daylong hiking, Eldora Mountain is our local ski mountain perfect for day trips, or Winter Park/Mary Jane for bigger, overnight excursions. If you head to Rocky Mountain National Park, you won’t be disappointed (get there early in the summer…it’s hugely popular).
Denver has a wealth of food and culture too, from the Denver Art Museum to the Denver Museum of Modern Art’s intimate expositions on a few artists at a time. Watercourse Foods and City o City are delicious for lunch or dinner, Uchi always delivers on amazing sushi and small plates (vegan and non-vegan), and Hop Alley’s spin on asian street food is fantastic for anyone.
Lastly, if you can make it to a show at Red Rocks, do it. The venue is truly unique, artists seem to feed off the energy of the rocks and play their best…doesn’t matter the show, it’s an experience.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
At Seed Ranch we consider ourselves Go-Givers. With the Marshall Fire’s affecting members of our team and extended family, we want to recognize The Phoenix Project, which is bringing together brands from across the outdoors and food industries to support families affected by the Marshall Fire.
