We had the good fortune of connecting with Aaren Finn and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Aaren, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
There are multiple reasons I pursued becoming apart of the beauty industry. I knew at a young age that I didn’t want a 9-5 desk job and thatI wanted to work for myself. My junior year I started seeing a stylist my friend had introduced me to. She was a mother of four, stunningly beautiful redhead, with a personality like no other. But it wasn’t her beauty and presence that set me on my path, it was how genuinely obvious it was that she loved her job. I wanted that. I want her to love going to work everyday and to make people smile and feel confident the way this women did. From that point on, I knew that being a hairstylist was the only career for me.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m so proud of my constant and never ending drive to learn and be better. I’ve been doing hair for 15 years now, and as trends change so does the methods in which I perform my art of hair design. Over the years, I’ve learned that you can never have too many tools in your belt, and that you can learn something from everyone you meet in life. There are so many styles of hair out there, but for myself and my clients the main focus has always been on the health of the hair. Taking care of yourself starts on the inside, beautiful hair is the cherry on top.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
There is so much to do in this wonderful city of Colorado Springs. I always make sure to bring visitors to our amazing local zoo and the beautiful Garden of the Gods. My favorite hang out for food in drinks is downtown. There are so many yummy places like Dos Santos, Fat Sully’s, The Exchange. Streetcar 520, and COATI. From brunch to cocktails , there’s plenty of variety downtown. The electric bikes and scooters are an awesome way to hope around and experience the city in a really fun way.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
To Wendy, the stylist who made me fall in love with this career and my family who fully supported my dreams.
