“If you don’t like something, change it. If you can’t change it, change your attitude about it.” – It means that I can always make a choice to find the positive and be content in any situation. We can not control the things that happen to us but we can control how we choose to react to them. In our personal or professional lives, we often find ourselves having to react to external forces outside of our control. Between the time that happens and the time we react, there is a gap of time. Early in my life that gap was so short that I didn’t even realize it was there and I would typically react emotionally or defensively. As I’ve aged, I’ve figured out that I can use that time, slow things down, and make more educated and positive decisions on how to react to my situation. Read more>>

‘Having a soft heart in a cruel world is courage, not weakness.’ I don’t actually know who this quote is from but I try to hold it close to my heart. I am someone who has always been very soft, sensitive, kind and quiet and in the world we live in today these traits can often been seen as a weakness. It becomes difficult to stay true to yourself and maintain these traits when the world around you can be so negative. But it is important that we remember these traits are not a weakness but and strength and it is okay to be yourself no matter what that looks like. Read more>>

“It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.” – Harry S. Truman. To me this is a near-daily reminder of the natural tendency to choose my actions based on whether I’ll be appreciated for them, vs the intention I have to do what’s best even if someone else is acknowledged for it. Time and time again, when I’m mindful of this distinction I create a little magic in the world.
