We had the good fortune of connecting with Adina (DEE) Colon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Adina (DEE), what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Honestly I got tired of being a time slave for others companies. Seeing myself in constant struggle while working a 9-5 while others got richer. Having to miss valuable time away from my kids, special moments, travel, etc. I knew that with my skill set I’d be able to make what I was making biweekly in a few days.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m an artist who expresses her creativity through hair braiding and loc styling. I provide custom styles to each one of my clients. Providing them with looks not only they desire but looks that fit them specifically. 5yrs ago I decided it was time to take myself seriously and go into business for myself. It’s been rocky yet fulfilling, I’ve surrounded myself with other entrepreneurs in different fields, picked their brains in regards to business and implemented it into my own business. I’m not where I want to be (just yet) but I am much closer to achieving my goals. I want people to know that when they sit in my chair, your not a customer but considered a guest. Your service is specified to YOU! I love to educate each guest while in the chair about their hair care along with tons of tips and tricks for healthy hair and styling at home.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
This is a good one. I’m still pretty new to Colorado (haven’t done to much) but hiking, it’s certainly one thing I would recommend. Checking out the mountain views is so beautiful and relaxing once you’ve made it to the top.
