We had the good fortune of connecting with Aidan Dennison (Yofee) and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Aidan, what habits do you feel helped you succeed?
I believe that the habit which helped me succeed the most is consistency. I learned very quickly on my own that staying consistent with something you’re in love with or passionate about will end with success eventually. Wether you think about that in the sense of a relationship, job, or hobby, it seems to always work out. I started DJ-ing 5 years ago with the intent of creating my own music one day and that consistency has lead me to where I am now.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Although I am new to music production, I am not new to the sound and structure of music. I believe that my music will set itself apart in many ways because of my background as a Dj and the unique style of music that I have in mind. Everyone who’s listened to my music says they love it and although I don’t believe them sometimes, its always a good sign. If I can make people dance as a small producer then I am sure that when the right person hears my music it will be a big deal for me and my future. I plan on taking my music to many different levels. Ive been experimenting with different sub-genres of EDM like House and Dubstep while including melodic and vocal elements to make sure that I really catch the listeners ear. I don’t want to just take a bunch of Bee-Boop noises, put them together, and call it a song. I want my music to have emotion, tell a story, and be unique.

Right now I am currently working as a Wildland Firefighter with the U.S Forest Service. This is a very exciting job that I love and I am very thankful for. It pays well but for me being paid well or having an exciting job already isn’t necessarily what i’m seeking or what I invision my future looking like. Someday soon I would love to be able to quit fire and make/perform music full time as a true musical artist. This would truly be a dream come true. With consistency and the support I already have I believe that this is beyond possible and easily achievable it just may take some time.

Trying to have a career in fire and music is not easy since I am very busy during the fire season. I am so busy in fact that when me and the crew are home all I want to do is relax so making music or DJ-ing in the summer is close to impossible physically. but thankfully I have winters off which gives me ample time to be creative and work on furthering my music. I do everything I can during the fire season wether that is promotion or just making music on my laptop while we travel from fire to fire.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
The first thing we would do is be going to one of my most favorite food places Chipotle of course. I am a simple man and Chipotle always hits the spot. After that we would probably go to dutch bros and get some of their rebel energy drinks because you cant have good food without a good drink and then we would start traveling south. I have lived in Colorado my whole life and I have allot of places I enjoy visiting from southern Colorado to the front range. I don’t think I could choose one place because I do have a love for the San Isabel area which is about 45 minutes south of pueblo up in the mountains. there we would visit San Isabel Lake, Bishops castle, and some of my favorite hiking trails that lead to some incredible views. I do also love the vail area since I have lived there for 2 winter seasons in a row so from here we would then travel north west. Here I would definitely take my best friend up the mountain to do some snowboarding or I would take them up to vail pass where we could enjoy some backcountry terrain. I love split boarding and riding this area because of the incredible backcountry terrain that the area has to offer. I am an avid snowboarder so we would definitely get allot of snowboarding in on this week long visit. After a long day of riding we’re going to need more food so we would make a stop by South Side Benders in Avon Colorado which is one of my favorite places to eat out at. They really do have some of the best burgers and shakes in the area. After eating we would go check out some of the areas small bars but one of my favorites in Route 6 because they have a small and friendly atmosphere and as a bonus they usually have live music, Open Mic, or Karaoke.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would say my parents and friends would be the biggest shoutout I would like to give. Throughout my whole childhood my mother recognized how much music meant to me and wanted to support me through every part of it. From getting me gigs to play parties for her and her friends to getting me gigs in clubs where people love hearing me showcase my live mashup of popular songs including multiple genres like pop, hiphop, country, and my favorite EDM. My father was a big part of this upbringing as well because he taught me the ins and outs of business including things like how to manage, budget, and cover myself when it comes to anything like equipment damage or even getting paid properly. With my dads multi decade background in business ownership and my moms ability to network and sell me as a DJ I want to thank them the most for everything they have taught me and the skillsets they have handed down to me. One last shoutout would definitely be the world renown EDM Artist “Martin Garrix”. Martin Garrix is the whole reason all of this started. I remember seeing him live at X-games Aspen one year when I was about 14-15 years old. Instantly I realized that this is what I want my life to look like, Creating and Sharing music to the world. I want to give people a reason to dance, laugh, and most importantly be happy!
