We had the good fortune of connecting with Aimee Jensen and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Aimee, alright, let’s jump in with a deep one – what’s you’re definition for success?
Success is slaying your personal demons and moving ahead anyway, in spite of it all.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
As a child I played 8 years of classical piano; competing even. It was a glorious outlet for my creativity. Over the years of raising a family, working full-time, I would ‘sneak’ in indulging my creative side with sewing, knitting and making greeting cards. One fall, I decided that after searching high and low for THE PERFECT caramel, that I would make them for myself as well as gifts. It took me about 9 months to cook up a recipe that produces that PERFECT caramel! I was continually encouraged to make this an official business. It seemed like such an overwhelming task that I danced around it for months until a very dear friend practically shoved me into business by placing a very large order in the fall of 2019. Those first 6 months was like drinking from a fire hose. Debbi and my husband helped, guided me through that initial flurry of activity. What have I learned? Let people help you, find key people that you trust, can work with that will give it to you ‘straight’, even if it hurts. It is absolutely imperative to understand your strengths and weaknesses, then find people to help you with the areas you are weak. And most of all, be kind to yourself.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I live in Fort Collins Colorado where we have BUNCHES of fun things to do! For those that like to socialize, Old Town is a fun place to wander around to different shops, restaurants, and bars. Winter is for skiing, snow-shoeing up the Poudre Canyon, taking walks on the myriad of nature trails through the City. We have breweries and distilleries that manufacture quality spirits and brews and the glorious patios to enjoy them on! Estes Park is about an hour’s drive up into the mountains. A lovely, quaint town with shops for shoppers to get lost in. Estes Park is also the gateway to Rocky Mountain National Park; just can’t say enough about how beautiful that park is. You get to drive through mountain tundra; really experience a rugged mountain environment.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Oh goodness! First and foremost is Debbi Allison with Open Book Consulting. The patience of a saint, warm, funny and easy to work with. I cannot emphasize enough how crucial it is to be familiar with your business finances in order to make good decisions. Don’t fool yourself, if you want to produce an income and grow your business you NEED Debbi Allison.
